Eli woke up early with a big smile. Today was a special day because Eli decided he would do everything by himself. He started by making his bed, pulling up the covers neatly. Uh, oh! The blankets weren't as neat as he'd hoped to get them. This made Eli a little sad. Mom noticed Eli struggling so she offered to help.- Eli loudly exclaimed "No, I can do it by myself". After a few tries Eli did make the bed all by himself. He felt proud and ready for more adventures!

In the kitchen, Eli was excited to make his own breakfast. He carefully poured cereal into a bowl and started pouring the milk. Uh, oh! Eli missed the bowl completely and milk was now spilling onto the table and kitchen floor. Mom offered to help Eli but Eli began shouting abruptly "No, I can do it by myself". Mom calmly stepped back as Eli gave it another try. This time Eli poured the milk into the bowl. As he ate, he felt like a big boy doing grown-up things. His tummy was happy and full!

After breakfast, Eli decided to help water the houseplants. This was a chore he helped with often. He found a small watering can and filled it up all by himself. Eli watered the plants, making sure each one got a drink. He even poured extra water for good measure. Eli loved seeing the plants stand tall and healthy! uh, oh! Eli poured too much water and now the flower pots are spilling over. Water was everywhere. This made Eli very upset and sad. Eli just wanted to be a big boy and do all the big jobs by himself. Instead, Eli made a mess. Eli started to cry. Mom gave Eli the biggest hug and assured him that everything was alright. Mom helped Eli clean up the big mess and explained that we all need help from time to time and that's okay.

As the day ended, Eli felt tired but happy. He brushed his teeth and changed into pajamas without any help. Eli climbed into bed, snuggled under the covers, and thought about his day. He smiled, knowing he could do many things by himself. Eli whispered to himself, 'I can do it!' before drifting off to sleep.
