Lola skipped down the sunny farm path. A brown dog ran up to her. "Woof, woof!" he barked happily. He jumped over a log. Lola giggled and patted his soft head. Then a gray cat appeared. "Meow, meow!" the cat purred. She was chasing a hat that blew in the wind. Lola caught the hat and gave it back. "Thank you for playing with me!" said Lola to her new friends.

Lola walked to the big red barn. "Moo, moo!" called a spotted cow from the fence. Lola tried making the sound too. "Moo!" she said, and the cow nodded. Near the pond, a yellow duck splashed in the water. "Quack, quack!" it said loudly. The duck waddled up to Lola. "You're so funny!" Lola laughed. She splashed her hand in the water with the duck.

In the meadow, white sheep were eating grass. "Baa, baa!" they said together. Lola sat down with them. "Are you counting stars tonight?" she asked the woolly sheep. They just said "Baa!" again and made her smile.

A pink pig danced by. "Oink, oink!" it giggled, doing a funny jig. Lola danced along too. From the barn came a loud "Roar!" but it was just her brother peter pretending to be a lion. "You're brave!" said Lola. An owl in the tree said "Hoot, hoot!" Lola clapped her hands. "One, two, three! What a fun animal parade!" She sang all the sounds: "Woof, meow, moo, quack, neigh, baa, oink, roar, hoot!"
