The sun shone brightly over the backyard where Anne, Fal, and baby Finan played. Anne smiled at her younger sisters. "I have something special to show you," she said excitedly. Fal clapped her hands. "What is it? What is it?" she asked, bouncing on her toes. Anne picked up a small stick from the ground. "It's a game called Areeka," she explained. "Mama and Grandma used to play it when they were little girls." Finan giggled and crawled closer to her big sisters. The warm breeze made the afternoon feel perfect for playing outside. Anne knelt down in the dirt, ready to begin.

Anne pressed the stick into the dirt and carefully drew a big heart shape. "Each heart is a house," she explained to Fal and Finan. She drew another heart, then another, making a path across the ground. Fal watched closely. "They're so pretty!" she said. "Can I help?" Anne handed her the stick. Together, the sisters drew more hearts in a long line. Some hearts were big and some were smaller. Finan patted the dirt with her little hands, leaving tiny handprints. "Perfect!" Anne announced when they finished. "Now we have seven houses for our game." The hearts looked beautiful in the afternoon sun.

Anne found a smooth, round stone near the fence. "This is our special stone," she told her sisters. She held it up so they could see. "First, we throw the stone into a heart. Then we hop to that heart without stepping on the lines." Fal nodded seriously. "What happens if we touch the lines?" she asked. "Then you have to start over," Anne explained with a smile. Finan reached for the stone, making happy sounds. Anne gently placed it in her baby sister's hand. "You can hold it, Finan," she said softly. The little one squeezed the stone tightly, very proud.

Anne stood at the start of the heart path. She tossed the stone gently, and it landed perfectly in the first heart. "Good throw!" Fal cheered. Anne hopped carefully on one foot into the first heart. She balanced well, keeping her foot away from the lines. Then she bent down, picked up the stone, and hopped back. "Your turn, Fal!" Anne said, handing over the stone. Fal's eyes sparkled with excitement. Finan clapped her tiny hands together. The game had officially begun, and everyone was ready to play. The afternoon felt magical as the sisters took turns together.

Fal held the stone tightly and aimed carefully. She threw it toward the second heart, and it bounced once before settling inside. "I did it!" she squealed happily. Fal hopped on one foot toward the heart. She wobbled a little, waving her arms to keep balance. Anne giggled. "You can do it, Fal!" she encouraged. Fal hopped again, landing inside the heart without touching any lines. She grabbed the stone and hopped back, laughing the whole way. When she reached the start, she jumped up and down with joy. "That was so fun!" she exclaimed breathlessly.

Baby Finan crawled toward the hearts, determined to join the game. She picked up the stone with both hands and looked at her sisters. "Throw it, Finan!" Fal said encouragingly. Finan tossed the stone, and it landed just outside the first heart. Anne smiled warmly. "That's okay, Finan. You tried so well!" she said. Finan crawled into the first heart and sat down, patting the ground happily. Her sisters laughed at how cute she looked. "You're in the house now!" Anne told her. Finan babbled cheerfully, clearly pleased with herself. The older sisters helped her crawl back to the starting line.

Anne pointed to the fourth heart, farther down the path. "Let's try a harder one," she suggested. Fal nodded eagerly. "I'll go first this time!" she announced bravely. She threw the stone with all her might. It sailed through the air and landed in the fourth heart perfectly. Fal hopped carefully from heart to heart, counting aloud. "One, two, three, four!" she called out. She reached the fourth heart without touching a single line. Anne cheered loudly. "Amazing job, Fal!" she praised. Finan clapped and bounced on her bottom. Fal beamed with pride as she hopped back successfully.

"I know a special trick," Anne said mysteriously. She threw the stone all the way to the sixth heart. Then she hopped through each heart quickly, her feet moving like a dancer. Fal watched with wide eyes. "You're so fast!" she exclaimed in amazement. Anne spun around in the sixth heart before picking up the stone. She hopped back even faster, landing perfectly each time. When she finished, both her sisters clapped enthusiastically. "Can you teach me that trick?" Fal asked hopefully. "Of course," Anne replied kindly. "But first, you need lots of practice." Finan babbled something that sounded like agreement.

"Let's all go together," Anne suggested with a bright smile. She held Fal's hand on one side and Finan's on the other. They stepped carefully into the first heart together, moving slowly. "Don't touch the lines," Fal reminded everyone seriously. They shuffled into the second heart, then the third, giggling as they moved. Finan's tiny feet stepped wherever her sisters guided her. When they reached the fourth heart, they all stopped to rest. "This is different," Fal observed happily. "It's harder together, but more fun!" Anne agreed. They made it to the fifth heart before Finan sat down, tired but happy.

Anne's eyes twinkled with a new idea. "Now we try the hardest challenge," she announced. "The blind Areeka!" Fal looked curious. "What's that?" she asked. "We close our eyes and use only memory and balance," Anne explained. Fal gasped. "That sounds impossible!" Anne went first, closing her eyes tightly. She hopped carefully, remembering where each heart was drawn. She made it to the third heart before peeking. "That's really hard!" she admitted, laughing. Fal tried next, keeping her eyes shut. She hopped twice before opening them. "I can't do it without looking!" she giggled. Even Finan closed her eyes and crawled forward.

The sky turned orange and pink as the sun began to set. The sisters kept playing their game, laughing louder with each turn. Fal invented a hopping dance in the hearts. Anne made up a silly song about jumping. Finan sat in the middle heart, clapping to the rhythm. "This is the best day ever," Fal declared happily. Anne hugged both her sisters close. "Playing together makes everything more fun," she said warmly. The warm evening breeze blew gently across the backyard. Their laughter echoed in the peaceful air. The heart shapes remained drawn in the dirt, perfectly shaped and waiting.

As darkness began to fall, Anne looked at their game one more time. "Should we erase the hearts?" Fal asked quietly. Anne shook her head. "No, let's leave them here," she decided. "Maybe another child will find them and learn to play Areeka too." Fal smiled at that thought. "That would be nice," she agreed. Finan yawned, tired from the exciting afternoon. The three sisters walked toward their house, holding hands. Behind them, the seven hearts remained drawn in the dirt. They waited patiently under the stars for the next child who wanted to play the beautiful game of Areeka.
