Mia and Lily sat under their favorite oak tree. "Let's build the biggest fort ever!" Mia said. Lily nodded and smiled. They gathered sticks and leaves together. "You hold this side," Lily said. "I'll tie the branches." They worked as a team. Soon their fort was done. "We make a great team!" Mia cheered. They crawled inside and laughed. The fort was perfect. Their friendship felt perfect too.

The next day, Mia brought her new toy rocket. "I want to play with it first," Mia said. "But I want a turn now," Lily replied. They both pulled on the rocket. "You're not being fair!" Lily shouted. "You never share!" Mia yelled back. The rocket fell to the ground. Both girls crossed their arms. They sat on opposite sides of the tree. Neither one spoke. The day felt gray and sad.

That night, Mia felt terrible. She remembered all the fun times with Lily. The next morning, she walked to Lily's house. "I'm sorry I didn't share," Mia said softly. Lily's eyes filled with tears. "I'm sorry I yelled at you," Lily said. They hugged each other tight. "Friends are more important than toys," Mia said. Lily nodded. "Let's play with the rocket together!" They ran outside, smiling again.

Mia and Lily took turns launching the rocket. "Your turn!" Mia said happily. They cheered when it flew high. "I'm glad we made up," Lily said. "Me too. Real friends work things out," Mia replied. They sat under their oak tree again. "Best friends forever?" Lily asked. "Forever and ever," Mia promised. They linked their pinky fingers together. The sun shone bright above them. Their friendship was stronger than ever.
