Indoor late-afternoon living room by a large window; dark storm clouds fill the view. A distant lightning flash illuminates Aden on the windowsill gripping Mom's hand, his wide eyes reflecting the sky while Mom smiles reassuringly.
Aden sat by the window watching dark clouds roll across the sky. Thunder rumbled in the distance. His heart beat faster. "Mom, it's coming," he whispered nervously. Mom sat beside him and took his hand. "I know storms seem scary, Aden. But I'm right here with you," she said gently. Lightning flashed far away. Aden squeezed her hand tightly. "What if it gets too loud?" he asked. Mom smiled warmly. "Then we'll face it together. You're braver than you think."
Indoor evening living room; rain drums on the window as thunder rolls overhead. A lightning flash illuminates Aden crouched on the couch, hands over ears, while Mom wraps an arm around him and points toward the rhythmic raindrops.
Rain began tapping against the window. The tapping grew louder and louder. BOOM! Thunder crashed overhead. Aden jumped and covered his ears. "It's so loud!" he cried. Mom wrapped her arm around him. "Listen closely, Aden. Can you hear the rhythm in the rain?" she asked. Aden tried to listen past his fear. Pitter-patter, pitter-patter. The rain made a gentle pattern. "I hear it," he whispered. "Like a song," Mom said. "The storm is nature's music." Aden's breathing slowed.
Indoor night scene at the glass back door; puddles shimmer in the yard while distant lightning flares like fireworks. Aden stands beside Mom counting on his fingers, their faces glowing against the wet glass.
Mom led Aden to the back door. "Let's look together," she encouraged. They watched rain create puddles in the yard. Lightning lit up the sky like fireworks. "Wow! Did you see that?" Aden exclaimed. "Beautiful, isn't it?" Mom replied. Thunder followed, but Aden didn't jump this time. "The lightning is really far away. Count with me," Mom suggested. They counted together between flashes and thunder. "We're safe here," she assured him. Aden nodded, feeling calmer. His fear was shrinking.
Outdoor backyard in soft post-rain sunlight; a vivid rainbow arcs across clearing clouds. Aden stands in fresh puddles grinning while Mom kneels beside him, arms around his waist, both gazing upward with joyful expressions.
The thunder faded away. Rain became a gentle sprinkle. Aden and Mom stepped outside. The air smelled fresh and clean. "Look!" Aden pointed at the sky. A rainbow stretched across the clouds. "The storm made that!" he said excitedly. Mom hugged him close. "You faced your fear today, Aden. I'm so proud of you." Aden smiled widely. The next time thunder rumbled, he didn't feel afraid. He remembered the rainbow. Storms could be beautiful after all.
