Morning light filters into Cinderella’s modest bedroom where she kneels by an open wardrobe, holding one glittering shoe while its mate’s empty spot gapes; outside the doorway Shivon and Kyla exchange conspiratorial smiles.
When it was time for shoes to wear, Cinderella gasped—one wasn’t there! Her stepsisters snickered, hiding the clue, Where could it be? Oh, what to do! She searched every corner, up and down, Not a single shoe could be found in town.
On the bedroom floor beneath soft candlelight, John Jr crawls halfway under a wooden bed, tiny feet kicking as he probes with a toy stick, while Cinderella kneels beside him, encouraging smile on her face, pillows tossed aside.
John Jr crawled to Cinderella’s side, “Don’t worry, let’s look!” he said with pride. They checked under pillows and beneath the bed, “Look over here!” John Jr happily said. A giggle escaped as he searched so deep, “Maybe your shoe’s taking a little sleep!”
In the hallway lit by late-afternoon sun, Cinderella lifts John Jr toward a tall grandfather clock where the missing sparkling shoe balances atop the crest; John Jr stretches an arm upward, eyes wide with triumphant delight.
John Jr found the shoe on top of the clock! Cinderella cheered, “Oh, what a shock!” She hugged John Jr, her heart full of glee, “Now to the shindig, just you and me!” They hurried off, feeling so bright, Ready to dance into the night.
