Outdoor meadow at midday, sunlight filtering through tall grass. Clara stands beside Missy Unicorn, who hides her horn with ears forward; Clara’s eyes are wide and hopeful, small hand resting on Missy’s neck.
When Clara was five she found a shy unicorn. The horse whispered, "My name is Missy." "Can I bring you home?" Clara asked. "Yes!" said Missy happily. "I need to hide my horn so I can come to your farm." Trotting beside Clara, Missy tucked her unicorn horn away.
Outdoor ranch arena on the prairies in late afternoon sunlight. Clara applauds from a wooden fence while Clara's mom rides Missy Unicorn in a dramatic sliding stop, dust scattering behind the horse.
Missy loved living on Clara's families farm. There were other horses, dogs and cats to be friends with. She also loved getting to know Clara family. Clara visited Missy every day sharing school stories and telling her about her days. Mom rode Missy at reining shows. "Go mom go! Go Missy go!" Cheered Clara.
Grassy farm paddock under gentle daylight. Clara hugs Missy Unicorn’s neck, her tear-streaked face smiling; Missy lowers her head affectionately, hidden horn nearly concealed by her black forelock.
On her eighth birthday, Clara hugged Missy. "I must share magic with another family," Missy whispered. Tears sparkled. "Will you forget me?" Clara asked. "Never," Missy said, "remember kindness and careful grooming."
Farm gate at glowing sunrise, sky streaked pink and gold. Missy Unicorn nuzzles Clara’s outstretched hand goodbye as Clara waves with her other hand, long shadows stretching across dew-covered ground.
At sunrise, Missy nuzzled goodbye. "Your heart holds unicorn magic," she murmured. Clara waved, teaching gentle brushing and patient leading. Horses shone brighter. "I'll share your sparkle," Clara promised, bravely smiling.
