On the sunny sidewalk outside the school, Tess skips beside Lola the peach caniche, both grinning toward the ringing bell. Morning light casts long shadows over their backpacks and the school's red-brick entrance.
Tess walks to school with Lola, her peach caniche friend. "Hola, Lola," Tess says with glee. "Hola, Tess," barks Lola happily. The sun shines bright, the day feels new. They skip and play, just them two. The school bell rings, it's time to go. "Let's learn feelings!" Tess says so. Lola wags her tail with pride. Together they go, side by side.
Inside the bright classroom doorway, Teacher stands smiling beneath fluorescent lights as Tess faces her, one hand on Lola’s bouncing head. Lola leaps mid-spin, tail blurred, while colorful posters and a morning sunlit window frame the scene.
Teacher smiles at the door today. "¿Cómo estás?" she asks their way. Tess looks at Lola, wants to know. "¿Cómo estás hoy?" she asks with a glow. Lola jumps and spins around. Her tail wags without a sound. "Estoy contenta!" Lola seems to say. She's happy on this lovely day. Teacher claps, "Muy bien, Lola!" Tess smiles, feeling joyful, too-la!
Near the classroom reading corner, Tess slumps into a cushioned chair Teacher just placed, yawning with droopy eyelids. Lola curls at her feet, muzzle resting on Tess’s sneakers, warm afternoon light spilling through blinds onto scattered storybooks.
Now Lola asks with curious eyes. "¿Cómo estás hoy?" she tries. Tess yawns big and rubs her head. "I played too late," is what she said. "Estoy cansada," Tess replies. She stretches and she sighs. Teacher brings a cozy chair. "Rest a bit, my dear, right there." Lola cuddles by her side. Together there, they both reside.
Under the playground’s wooden awning, Tess stands in gentle rain, shoulders slumped, gray clouds overhead. Lola rises on hind legs to wrap a furry hug around Tess’s waist; puddles ripple below and unused jump-ropes hang nearby.
Outside they go for play and fun. They run beneath the morning sun. But then dark clouds begin to form. It starts to rain, a gentle storm. No more playing, they must stay. "Estoy triste," Tess does say. Lola sees her friend feel blue. She knows just what she needs to do. Lola gives a big, warm hug. Tess smiles, feeling snug as a bug.
Inside the brightly lit classroom, Teacher places a taped cardboard box on the front table, hands theatrically behind her back. Tess sits upright, wide-eyed and biting her lower lip, while Lola watches from beside her desk.
Back inside, the room feels bright. Teacher has something out of sight. "I have surprise!" she says with care. A box appears from under there. Tess feels butterflies inside. "¿Cómo estás hoy?" Lola tries. "Estoy nerviosa," Tess replies. Her heart beats fast, anticipation flies. What could be in that box so neat? Everyone's waiting, on their seat!
Sunlight from high windows illuminates Teacher lifting colorful blocks and books from the newly opened box at the classroom center. Lola balances on hind paws, mouth open in delighted bark, while Tess claps beside a spill of crayons.
Teacher opens up the box. Inside are toys and colored blocks! Books and crayons, treats galore! Fun surprises, more and more! "¡Estoy sorprendida!" Lola barks. Her eyes light up like little sparks. Tess claps her hands with cheer. "What a wonderful surprise here!" Teacher smiles and starts to share. Joy and laughter fill the air!
In front of the chalkboard labeled 'Emociones', Tess points to neatly written words while Lola sits alert at her side. Teacher leans forward with a clipboard, smiling as she evaluates their answers under bright ceiling lights.
"Let's have a contest!" Teacher says. "Name emotions in Spanish ways!" Tess and Lola work as one. They practice hard and have such fun. They say contenta, triste too. Nerviosa, sorprendida, through and through. Teacher checks each team with care. Tess and Lola make a pair. "The winners are... Tess and Lola!" Everyone cheers, "Muy bien, amigos!"
Beside the teacher’s desk, Tess holds a small gold star trophy against her chest, chin lifted proudly. Lola jumps up to nuzzle the trophy, tail whipping, while colorful confetti still drifts through the late-afternoon classroom air.
Tess and Lola take their prize. Both have stars within their eyes. "¿Cómo estás hoy?" Teacher asks. They smile behind their happy masks. "Estoy orgullosa," Tess says proud. "Estoy emocionada!" Lola barks out loud. They hug each other, friends so true. Working together, they both grew. Learning Spanish, what a treat! Their teamwork made it all complete!
At one end of the classroom, Lola leaps to catch a bright rubber ball mid-air, ears flapping under fluorescent lights. Across the room, Tess crouches over a poster, sketching vivid happy and sad faces with red and blue markers.
Now it's time for fun and play. They've learned so much throughout the day. In the classroom, games appear. Lola catches balls with cheer. Tess draws pictures, bright and new. Showing feelings, red and blue. Happy faces, sad ones too. Each emotion that they knew. Teacher watches, proud and glad. Best Spanish lesson they ever had!
Near the classroom round table, Tess holds up her illustrated feelings chart while Lola offers a paw shake to an excited child receiving it. Other students cluster in the background, bright midday light spilling through open windows onto scattered flashcards.
Other students join their game. They ask each other, all the same. "¿Cómo estás hoy?" around they go. Each one answers, high and low. "Estoy contenta!" "Estoy cansado!" Learning Spanish, feeling proud-o! Lola helps them understand. She gives paw shakes with her hand. Tess shows pictures that she drew. Emotions shared by all who knew!
Outside the school’s front steps, late-day sunlight bathes Tess as she slides notebooks into her backpack. Lola stretches in a playful bow beside her, the golden sky reflecting off windows while Teacher waves farewell from the doorway behind them.
The school day ends, it's time to leave. Teacher waves, "Adiós, believe! You learned so much, you all did great! Come back tomorrow, don't be late!" Tess packs her bag with care. Lola stretches here and there. Walking home beneath the sun. What a special day of fun! They practiced feelings, learned to share. Spanish words float through the air!
On Tess’s porch at sunset, warm orange light paints the wooden door behind them. Tess smiles, hands on backpack straps, while Lola sits wagging before her; they gaze at each other, both beaming 'contenta' after the day’s Spanish adventure.
At the door, they stop and say. Tess asks, "¿Cómo estás hoy?" Lola wags and barks with glee. "Estoy contenta!" happily. Tess smiles wide, she feels it too. Learning Spanish, something new. "And you?" asks Lola in her way. "¿Cómo estás hoy?" Tess says, "Contenta too, it's been great! Learning feelings has been first-rate!" Tomorrow they'll come back and play. Learning more the Spanish way!
