Courtney woke up early on Monday. She got dressed in her school uniform and went to the kitchen. Mother was feeding baby Theo in his high chair. "Good morning, sweetie," Mother said with a smile. Courtney kissed Theo's soft cheek. "I'll miss you today, Theo," she said. Theo giggled and clapped his tiny hands. Father drove Courtney to school. "Have a great day," he said. Courtney waved goodbye, already thinking about seeing Theo again.
Afternoon light falls across the living-room rug where Courtney kneels beside a small tower of colorful blocks, laughing as baby Theo topples them with a delighted grin. Mother watches from the sofa, smiling warmly.
Courtney rushed home after school on Wednesday. She dropped her backpack and ran to find Theo. He was playing with colorful blocks on the living room floor. "Theo!" Courtney called out happily. The baby looked up and smiled big. Courtney sat down beside him. "Let's build a tower," she said. Together they stacked blocks high. Theo knocked them down and laughed. Courtney laughed too. "You're so silly, Theo," she said, hugging him tight. Mother watched them play with a warm smile.
Warm evening bathroom light glows over the tub where baby Theo splashes happily among bright bath toys; Courtney kneels beside the water waving a yellow duck, while Mother waits with a fluffy towel, smiling.
Friday evening felt special to Courtney. School was done for the week! Father made spaghetti for dinner. Courtney helped feed Theo small bites. "Tomorrow we can play all day," she whispered to him. Theo babbled happy sounds. After dinner, Courtney gave Theo his bath toys. She made splash sounds and Theo giggled. Mother dried Theo with a soft towel. "One more sleep until the weekend," Courtney said excitedly. She kissed Theo goodnight. "Tomorrow will be the best day ever," she told him.
Under bright Saturday sunshine at the park playground, Courtney stands behind a bucket baby swing, smiling as she gently pushes squealing Theo who clutches the swing's chains. Mother and Father watch nearby on the grassy edge with a picnic basket.
Saturday morning came with sunshine. Courtney woke up early, more excited than usual. She ran to Theo's room. "It's the weekend!" she cheered. Mother and Father smiled. The family went to the park together. Courtney pushed Theo gently on the baby swing. "Higher!" she said softly. Theo squealed with joy. They had a picnic lunch on a blanket. Courtney fed Theo pieces of banana. "I love weekends with you," Courtney told her baby brother. Theo grabbed her hand and smiled. It was perfect.
