In the sun-washed kitchen, Zachary and Andre stand barefoot by the wooden table, grinning. Parents pile bright towels and snacks nearby while Cassian giggles in a high chair beside a small cereal bowl.
Zachary woke up early on Saturday morning. The sun shone brightly through his window. "Today is swimming day!" he shouted. He ran to Andre's room and shook him awake. "Wake up! We're going swimming with Cassian!" Andre rubbed his eyes and smiled. "I can't wait!" they both said. The boys rushed downstairs to eat breakfast. Their parents packed towels and snacks. Baby Cassian giggled in his high chair.
Inside the sunlit hallway, Zachary in blue fish trunks and Andre in red stripes grin with thick sunscreen smeared across their noses. Cassian, wearing a yellow swim diaper, claps beside scattered goggles and floaties on the wooden floor.
The boys put on their swim trunks. Zachary wore blue ones with fish. Andre chose red ones with stripes. Mom dressed Cassian in a cute yellow swim diaper. "Don't forget sunscreen," Dad said. He squeezed white cream onto their noses. The boys giggled as Dad rubbed it in. They grabbed their goggles and floaties. Cassian clapped his tiny hands. "Pool! Pool!" Andre cheered. Soon they were ready to go.
Outside the community-pool gate, Zachary gently holds Cassian's tiny hand while Andre peers through the metal bars at the sparkling blue water beyond. Bright afternoon sun reflects off umbrellas, and distant families splash under the clear sky.
The family arrived at the community pool. It sparkled bright blue in the sunshine. "Wow, it's so big!" Andre exclaimed. Zachary held Cassian's hand carefully. They walked through the gate together. Other families splashed and played in the water. The boys saw the shallow end perfect for Cassian. "Let's start there," Mom suggested. Dad carried the baby toward the steps. The cousins followed excitedly.
On the shallow pool steps, Cassian sits between Zachary and Andre, his feet kicking sprays of water into the sunlit air. Both boys lean close, laughing at the baby's wide-eyed delight while ripples shimmer around their knees.
Dad sat on the pool steps with Cassian. The baby's toes touched the cool water. Cassian squealed with delight and kicked his feet. Splash! Water sprayed everywhere. "He likes it!" Zachary laughed. Andre splashed gently near Cassian. The baby giggled and splashed back. His brown eyes grew wide with wonder. "More! More!" the boys encouraged. Cassian's laughter filled the air. It was his first real swimming adventure.
Mid-pool under bright noon light, Zachary supports Andre's shoulders as Andre lies flat on the water, arms outstretched, eyes nervously upward. Gentle ripples surround them, and a nearby kickboard floats unused beside the tiled edge.
Zachary wanted to teach Andre a new trick. "Watch me float on my back," he said. He leaned back and spread his arms wide. His body floated on the water's surface. "Now you try," Zachary encouraged. Andre took a deep breath and leaned back. Zachary held his shoulders gently. "Relax and breathe," he instructed. Slowly, Andre began to float. "I'm doing it!" he shouted happily. Zachary smiled proudly at his younger cousin.
Near the pool ladder, Zachary and Andre surface simultaneously, each raising a colorful plastic ring while water sheets glisten off their hair. Cassian, wrapped in a towel on the deck, claps joyfully beneath the blazing sun.
"Let's play a diving game!" Zachary suggested. Dad tossed colorful rings into the shallow water. They sank to the bottom slowly. "Ready, set, go!" Zachary shouted. He and Andre dove underwater together. Their eyes were squeezed shut tight. Andre grabbed a red ring first. Zachary found a blue one. They popped up, gasping for air. "I got one!" Andre celebrated. Cassian clapped from Dad's arms. They dove again and again.
On sun-warmed lounge chairs beside the pool, Zachary munches an apple while Andre devours orange slices, both swaddled in fluffy towels. Nearby, Cassian sits in the shade nibbling soft crackers, a half-empty sippy cup resting on the plastic table.
Mom called the boys from the water. "Time for snacks!" she announced cheerfully. The cousins climbed out, dripping wet. Mom handed them fluffy towels. They wrapped up like burritos. Cassian munched on soft crackers happily. Zachary ate an apple. Andre chose orange slices. "The water made me hungry," Zachary said. They sat together on lounge chairs. The warm sun dried their skin. After ten minutes, they were ready again.
At the deep-end edge, Zachary is frozen mid-jump in a tight cannonball above shimmering water, sun catching droplets around him. Andre, waist-deep nearby, shields his face with one arm while laughing, as Cassian splashes excitedly in the shallow corner.
"Who can make the biggest splash?" Andre challenged. Zachary grinned at the competition. "I can!" he declared confidently. He jumped high and tucked his knees. SPLASH! Water flew everywhere. Andre took his turn next. He cannonballed with all his might. SPLASH! Even bigger waves appeared. Cassian squealed and clapped excitedly. "Baby's turn!" Mom said laughing. She helped Cassian kick hard. Tiny splashes made everyone giggle. "We all win!" Zachary announced.
In the bright shallow end, Cassian wears oversized orange arm floaties and floats between Zachary and Andre under a clear summer sky. Both boys hold his hands, guiding him through sparkling water while pool tiles gleam beneath them.
Dad brought special floaties for Cassian. They were bright orange arm floaties. He slipped them onto Cassian's chubby arms. "Now you can swim, buddy!" Dad said. Cassian floated between Zachary and Andre. The older boys held his hands. Together they moved through the water. Cassian kicked his little legs. "Good job, Cassian!" Andre cheered. The baby beamed with pride. They swam in a gentle circle. It felt like flying to Cassian.
Beside the pool's towering water fountain, Zachary, Andre, and Cassian stand hand-in-hand beneath spraying arcs that catch sunlight into a vivid rainbow. Droplets sparkle on their faces as they laugh upward, tiled ground gleaming wet around bare feet.
Zachary discovered the pool's water fountain. It sprayed water high into the air. "Come see this!" he called. Andre and Dad brought Cassian over. The fountain made a rainbow. "So pretty!" Andre gasped in amazement. They stood under the falling water. It tickled their heads and shoulders. Cassian laughed the loudest of all. The droplets sparkled like diamonds. They danced in the fountain spray. It was magical and refreshing together.
In the quiet pool at sunset, Zachary and Andre float on their backs side by side, golden light rippling across calm water. They clasp hands gently, eyes half-closed, while distant pool lights begin to glow along the deck.
The afternoon sun hung lower now. Cassian rubbed his eyes sleepily. "I think someone's getting tired," Mom observed. Zachary yawned a big yawn. Even Andre looked worn out. "Just five more minutes?" Zachary pleaded. Dad nodded with a smile. They floated together one last time. The water felt peaceful and calm. Cassian rested his head on Dad's shoulder. Andre held Zachary's hand gently. Their wonderful swimming day was ending.
Inside the parked minivan at twilight, Zachary and Andre, wrapped in dry towels, watch Cassian sleeping peacefully in a rear car seat. Streetlights cast amber patterns across their tired yet smiling faces, and rolled-up pool noodles rest beside the door.
The family packed up their belongings. The boys wrapped in dry towels. Cassian fell asleep in his car seat. "That was the best day," Zachary whispered. "I love swimming with you both," Andre agreed quietly. They looked at sleeping Cassian. His peaceful face made them smile. "We should do this every week," Zachary suggested. Andre nodded enthusiastically in agreement. As they drove home, both boys dreamed. They dreamed of their next swimming adventure.
