"I'm snuggled between consonants!" giggled A in 'cat'. "Me too in 'cot'!" laughed O. The short vowels felt cozy and safe. "We're in CVC words," said U in 'cut'. E danced in 'pet'. I wiggled in 'sit' happily.

The King called his daughter over. "I'll give you a special name," he said kindly. "You'll be called 'doll', not 'dall'." The little princess smiled widely. "I'm the only one like this!" she cheered. Everyone in the kingdom agreed.

"Let's blend!" shouted B and L together. They made the 'bl' sound in 'blue'. "We're louder together!" said S and T. The consonants held hands tightly. "Shr, str, spr!" three friends called out. Blending made reading fun for everyone.
