In the sunny backyard garden, Julep stands proudly beside an overturned flowerpot on the porch, tail wagging amid scattered flowers and muddy pawprints. Slim and Scottie crouch tiptoeing toward her across the grass, wide-eyed and whispering.
Scottie ran outside and gasped. "Oh no! Look at the garden!" Dirt flew everywhere. Flowers lay scattered on the grass. Muddy pawprints covered the porch. Julep the dog wagged her tail proudly beside an overturned pot. "Julep made a big mess!" said Slim. He tiptoed toward her. Scottie tiptoed too. "Let's catch her!" whispered Scottie. But Julep saw them coming. She barked happily and zoomed away! "Come back, Julep!" they shouted, chasing after her.
Behind leafy bushes beside the red barn on a bright afternoon, Slim and Scottie kneel holding a giant bone out like bait. Julep bursts from the playground tunnel, mouth open and eyes gleaming as she lunges to snatch it.
Julep raced across the yard with Scottie and Slim running behind. She darted around the house, then circled the red barn. "She's so fast!" panted Scottie. Julep jumped through the playground tunnel and climbed over the slide. The kids scrambled after her. "I have an idea!" said Slim. He found a giant bone near the barn. They hid behind the bushes and held it up. Julep spotted the bone, grabbed it in her mouth, and ran away triumphantly. "Hey!" laughed Scottie.
Outside the barn at sunset, Slim fires a bulky net launcher, the net fanning through golden light toward Julep. The dog crouches low and slips beneath, while Scottie watches from her Power Wheels car, laughing in surprise.
At the barn, Slim said, "Let's build a trap!" They tied ropes to pulleys and hung a crate above. When Julep walked underneath, the crate dropped down. But Julep simply trotted away. "That didn't work," sighed Scottie. Next, they hopped on their Power Wheels and zoomed after her. Julep weaved around swings and slides. Then Slim unveiled a huge net launcher. WHOOSH! The net flew through the air, but Julep ducked under it. "She's too clever!" giggled Scottie.
Under a clear afternoon sky in the backyard, a balloon larger than the nearby oak tree hoists Julep upward, her ears flapping as she dangles from the ribbon. Slim and Scottie stare up from the grass, arms outstretched in alarm.
"Let's try bubbles!" said Scottie. Slim made the biggest bubble ever. It floated like a rainbow balloon. Julep ran straight through it! POP! Next, they blew up a gigantic balloon. It grew bigger than the tree! Julep ran toward it curiously. Suddenly, the balloon lifted Julep into the air! "Julep!" cried the kids. They raced inside to save her. But in the cozy living room, they found Julep napping peacefully in the soft armchair. Scottie and Slim climbed up and hugged her gently. Everyone was happy together.
