Morning sunlight fills the kitchen as Amir, short black hair sticking up, beams while Mom with medium black hair hugs him near the counter. An open cereal box, milk jug, and laughingly spilled colorful loops rest on the tabletop.
Amir woke smiling. "I am an awesome kid!" he said. Mom, with medium black hair, hugged him. His short black hair stuck up. "Let's make breakfast," she said. They poured cereal, laughing.
Bright afternoon light in the dining room shows Amir placing napkins on the wooden table while Mom stands beside a bowl of fruit and yogurt. Four counted plates line up neatly, and Amir holds a spoon triumphantly aloft.
Amir carried napkins to the table. "Helpers are awesome," Mom said. He counted plates, one to four. Together they mixed fruit and yogurt. "We make a great team," Amir cheered, spoon raised.
Sunny afternoon at the playground: Amir shoots down the tall red slide, arms raised and eyes sparkling, while Mom stands at the bottom clapping proudly. Nearby, bright swings and scattered wood chips complete the cheerful scene.
At the playground, the slide looked tall. Amir held Mom's hand. "I am an awesome kid," he whispered. He climbed carefully, then whooshed down, giggling. "You did it!" Mom cheered, clapping proudly.
In Amir's softly lit bedroom at night, stars twinkle through the window as Mom sits on the bed reading an open picture book. Amir snuggles under a blue blanket, yawning contentedly in the warm glow of a bedside lamp.
Stars peeked through the window. Mom read a cozy story. "What made today awesome?" she asked. "Helping, counting, and sliding," Amir said. Snuggling close, he yawned, "I am an awesome kid."
