

Amir woke smiling. "I am an awesome kid!" he said. Mom, with medium black hair, hugged him. His short black hair stuck up. "Let's make breakfast," she said. They poured cereal, laughing.

Amir carried napkins to the table. "Helpers are awesome," Mom said. He counted plates, one to four. Together they mixed fruit and yogurt. "We make a great team," Amir cheered, spoon raised.

At the playground, the slide looked tall. Amir held Mom's hand. "I am an awesome kid," he whispered. He climbed carefully, then whooshed down, giggling. "You did it!" Mom cheered, clapping proudly.

Stars peeked through the window. Mom read a cozy story. "What made today awesome?" she asked. "Helping, counting, and sliding," Amir said. Snuggling close, he yawned, "I am an awesome kid."
