Morning light glows in Gabby's bedroom as she kneels on her bed, face pressed to a window overlooking falling snow; stuffed teddy sits beside her, curtains slightly parted.
Gabby woke up and looked outside with glee. White snowflakes falling, what a sight to see! She jumped from her bed and ran to the door. "Snow day, snow day!" she started to roar.
Gabby put on her pink coat. Pink boots on her feet, warm mittens too. "Now I'm ready for fun,
. Gabby put on her pink coat in style. Pink boots on her feet, warm mittens too. "Now I'm ready for fun,
Front yard beneath pale morning sun, Gabby twirls in freshly fallen snow, arms outstretched and laughing as delicate flakes shimmer around the icy porch steps.
Gabby stepped out into the snowy white land. Cold, fluffy snowflakes fell on her hand. She giggled and twirled,
Outdoor noon light, Gabby crouches near a small pine tree, hands cupping a perfectly round snowball; footprints and a red plastic shovel lie in the powdery yard.
Gabby scooped up some snow, soft and round. She packed it together without a sound. "My first snowball!" she said with pride. She tossed it gently to the side.
Beside the garden fence on a bright afternoon, Gabby pushes a large snow sphere across the ground while two smaller spheres wait nearby for her growing snowman.
“Let’s make a snowman!” Gabby said. Gabby rolled the snow into a ball. She stacked the snow. One. Two. Three. Gabby made a big snowman.
Under late-day golden light, Gabby plants twig arms and a pebble smile onto the completed three-tier snowman, her pink-gloved hand still clutching extra pebbles at his base.
Gabby found sticks for the snowman’s arms. She gave him a big smile. “Hello, Mister Snowman,” Gabby said. “I’m glad I made you.”
Open backyard at dusk, Gabby lies flat in untouched snow, arms and legs mid-sweep creating a crisp angel; the sky glows pastel purple behind leafless trees.
Gabby lay down in the soft white snow. She moved her arms up and down. Gabby said. “I made a snow angel!”
Evening streetlamp light bathes the driveway as Gabby tilts her head back, tongue out to catch drifting snowflakes, one glittering inches above her wide-eyed grin.
Gabby stuck out her tongue so wide. Trying to catch snowflakes from the sky. They melted quickly, cold and sweet. "Snow tastes yummy, what a treat!"
Sunlit hill at the neighborhood park, Gabby rockets downward on a bright red sled, scarf trailing behind while snow sprays up along the smooth icy track.
Gabby climbed up the snowy hill high. "Here I go!" was her joyful cry. Down she slid, fast and free. "Wheee! This is fun for me!"
Near the front porch as late afternoon shadows lengthen, Mama waits by the open door calling, while Gabby stands in the snowy yard rubbing her red nose with mittened hand.
Gabby's nose was red and cold. "Time to go in," Mama told. Gabby's fingers tingled in the air. "Okay, Mama, I'll meet you there."
Kitchen interior glowing with lamplight, Mama pours steaming cocoa into a mug topped with marshmallows as Gabby, seated at the wooden table, lifts both hands eagerly toward the cup.
Inside the house, warm and cozy bright. Mama made cocoa, what a delight! Gabby sipped slowly, warm and sweet. "This makes my snow day complete!"
Living-room evening, fireplace flickers beside a cushioned armchair where Gabby curls beneath a quilt, smiling dreamily while snowflakes continue falling outside the nearby window.
Gabby snuggled up in her favorite chair. She smiled thinking of the frosty air. "I love snow days, every single one. Playing outside is so much fun!"
