Jairus holds his daughter's hand as she lies in bed.
Jairus loved his daughter more than anything. She was twelve years old and full of joy. But one day, she became very sick. She could not get out of bed. Her face was pale and hot with fever. Jairus held her small hand and felt afraid. He did not know what to do. Then he remembered Jesus, the teacher who helped people. Jairus made a big decision. He would find Jesus and ask for help. He believed Jesus could save his daughter.

Jairus ran through the crowded streets. He found Jesus surrounded by many people. Even though Jairus was an important synagogue leader, he knelt down before Jesus. "Please come to my house," Jairus begged. "My little daughter is dying. Please put your hands on her so she will be healed." Jesus looked at Jairus with kind eyes. "I will come with you," Jesus said gently. Jairus felt hope fill his heart. They began walking toward his house together. Faith gave Jairus courage to believe.

As they walked, a woman in the crowd touched Jesus and was healed. While Jesus spoke with her, men came running to Jairus. "Your daughter has died," they said sadly. "Don't bother the teacher anymore." Jairus felt his heart break. Tears filled his eyes. But Jesus turned to him and said, "Don't be afraid. Just believe." Those words gave Jairus new hope. He wiped his tears. He chose to trust Jesus even when things seemed impossible. They continued walking to the house.

At the house, people were crying loudly. Jesus went inside with Jairus to where the girl lay. She looked so still and quiet. Jesus took her small hand gently. "Talitha koum!" He said, which means "Little girl, get up!" Suddenly, her eyes opened! She sat up and smiled. She was alive and completely well! Jairus hugged his daughter tightly, crying happy tears. Jesus had performed an amazing miracle. Everyone was amazed. Jairus knew his faith in Jesus had saved his precious daughter.
