Larissa clapped her tiny hands as the airplane hummed. "Woof, woof!" cheered Beso from his cozy carrier. "Dubai, here we come," giggled Larissa, her pigtails bouncing. Clouds looked like fluffy marshmallows outside the window. Beso pressed his nose to the mesh, wagging. A soft lullaby from the cabin hush made them sleepy. They dreamed of twinkly trees and warm sand.

The plane rolled to a stop under golden sunshine. "Yeye! Popo!" Larissa squealed at the arrivals gate. Yeye’s rimless glasses sparkled as he waved. Popo’s diamond necklace twinkled while she bent for a hug. "Welcome home, little star," Popo said softly. "Woof!" said Beso, offering a puppy paw. "Let’s make your first Christmas special," Yeye smiled.

At a bright cafe, warm shawarmas filled the air with spices. Larissa nibbled soft pita with tiny bites of chicken. "Mmm!" she said, cheeks round as dumplings. Beso sniffed happily and crunched a puppy-safe treat shaped like a shawarma. "Share?" Larissa offered, holding out a crumb. "Woof-woof!" he wagged, tail swishing like a ribbon. Their bellies felt cozy and full.

At Dubai Mall, the waterfall sparkled like silver curtains. Larissa pointed at the giant aquarium. "Fish!" Beso pressed his paws to the glass and whispered, "Woof," very softly. Bubbles drifted up like tiny snow. "Blue fish, green fish," Larissa sang. They rode an escalator that hummed like a song. Their steps echoed, happy and small.

The beach glowed peach and gold in the afternoon. Larissa patted sand into lumpy castles. Beso dug a little moat with his paws. Gentle waves folded and unfolded like blankets. "Splash?" Larissa asked, tapping a tide puddle. "Woof!" Beso agreed, hopping back from a tickly wave. Sun warmed their cheeks, and seabirds wrote V’s in the sky.

Back home, a big red present waited under the twinkly tree. It was taller than Larissa and wide as a cuddle. "Ooooh," she breathed, eyes like brown moons. Beso’s ears perked as he whispered, "Woof?" The ribbon curled like candy canes. Larissa tiptoed closer, dress swishing baby blue. Her fingers hovered, curious as a butterfly.

She reached out, and the paper went rrrip! A tiny window opened in the red, shiny wrap. Larissa peeked in and saw a dash of glittery gold. "Uh-oh," she whispered, mouth a small O. Beso tilted his head and gave a quiet "woof." The room held its breath with the fairy lights. Larissa froze, hands behind her back.

Larissa remembered, no opening presents before Christmas. She pressed the flap gently, trying to smooth it closed. The paper wrinkled like a crumpled leaf and tore a little more. "Oh no," she said, shaking her pigtails. Beso nudged a corner as if to help. "Careful," Larissa whispered, patting it flat again. The tear still peeked like a cheeky smile.

Popo stepped into the room, heels soft on the rug. "Larissa, what are you doing?" she asked kindly. Larissa’s cheeks turned pink blossoms. "Rip," she said, pointing, honest and small. Beso sat beside her like a loyal guard. Popo knelt and smiled. "Thank you for telling me." "Next time, let’s ask for help," she added, giving a gentle hug.

Yeye joined them, glasses twinkling like stars. "Just one early Christmas present won’t hurt," he chuckled. Popo loosened the bow while Larissa held the ribbon end. Beso wagged a drumbeat on the floor. Together they opened the rest, paper raining like red petals. Inside was a plush camel with a jingly bell. Larissa hugged it, and Beso gave it a gentle sniff. "Family makes Christmas sparkle," Yeye said.
