In the sunny park entrance, a bright 'Community Helpers Day!' banner hangs between trees. Liza stands wide-eyed beneath it while Firefighter Sam in full gear and Nurse Ana in scrubs greet her with welcoming smiles.
Liza saw a banner at the park: "Community Helpers Day!" She hurried over, eyes bright. "I’m Firefighter Sam," a firefighter said. "I’m Nurse Ana," a nurse added. "Come learn how we help," they cheered.
On the grassy field beside a red fire truck under bright midday sun, Liza steadies a practice hose, spraying water that splashes on a bullseye board. Firefighter Sam, smiling proudly, raises a gloved hand for a high-five.
Sam showed Liza a shiny helmet and coat. "They protect us from heat," he said. Liza aimed a practice hose at a target. Water sprinkled the bullseye. "Great teamwork!" Sam cheered, high-fiving Liza.
At a portable sink under a shade canopy in the afternoon park, Nurse Ana holds a stethoscope to Liza’s teddy bear resting on the counter. Liza giggles, hands covered in iridescent soap bubbles that float in warm light.
Nurse Ana put a stethoscope on Liza’s teddy. "It goes thump-thump," she said. They sang a washing song while scrubbing. Bubbles danced. "Clean hands help everyone," Ana said, giving a sticker.
Near the park gazebo at golden sunset, Liza holds a colorful thank-you poster aloft while stepping forward. Firefighter Sam and Nurse Ana stand behind her, applauding as other kids march past waving small handmade signs.
Liza made a bright thank-you poster. "You taught me lots," Liza told them. Kids marched around the park, cheering. Liza led, "Safe and kind, each day!" The whole community smiled together.
