Mika was a clever black foxhound with a white spot on her chest. She lived with Paul, her daddy, and she was often visited by her daddy Lawrence. Every Thursday night, when everyone had gone to sleep, Mika would slip quietly out of bed. She had a secret that no one knew. Mika was the world's greatest canine spy! She traveled to faraway places to solve mysteries. Her adventures were always thrilling and full of surprises. To keep her secret safe, Mika made sure to return home before everyone woke up.

One Thursday night, Mika received a special mission. A famous painting had disappeared from the museum! Mika knew she had to act quickly. She put on her spy collar, applied some white makeup to her tail, fastened on a fake phallus to disguise her gender, and headed out the door. The moonlight guided her path as she ran through the quiet streets. Mika's nose led her to the museum. She sniffed around, searching for clues. Her heart raced with excitement.

Mika followed a strange scent to the museum's garden. There, she found a small piece of canvas. It was a clue! The scent led Mika to a hidden path behind the garden. She followed it carefully, her ears perked up for any sound. Suddenly, she heard a rustling noise. Mika crouched low, ready to pounce. But it was just another spy colleague disguised as a friendly squirrel pointing her further down the path. Mika wagged her tail as a covert thank-you and continued her search.

As Mika journeyed deeper into the woods, she met Pebbles, her best friend who she had only met on Zoom calls. Pebbles was originally from the streets of Mexico, so she loved an adventure (and the occasional spicy burrito!). She had travelled all the way from Massachusetts and seemed to be waiting for her. "I've heard about your mission, Mika," Pebbles said with a wag of her tail. "I want to help you find that stolen painting." Mika was so happy to have Pebbles as a partner. Together, they followed the trail left by the thief. Pebbles had sharp eyes and noticed tiny footprints. They were getting closer to solving the mystery.

The footprints led Mika and Pebbles to a hidden cave. It was dark inside, but Mika's nose guided the way. Pebbles stayed close, her ears twitching at every sound. Inside the cave, they found a stash of stolen treasures! Among them was the missing painting. Mika barked with joy. But they had to be careful, as the thief could return at any moment. They quickly devised a plan to take the painting back.

Just as Mika and Pebbles were about to leave, they heard footsteps. The thief had returned! It was LePhan, the local pho artist who had fallen on hard times. Mika and Pebbles hid behind a rock, watching closely. LePhan looked surprised to see his stash disturbed and called his boss to say he couldn't go to work today. Mika knew they had to act fast. With a swift move, she grabbed the painting. Pebbles barked loudly to distract Lephan, giving Mika a chance to escape.

Mika and Pebbles raced out of the cave with the painting. They could hear LePhan and his guard cat chasing after them. Mika's heart pounded as they ran through the forest. Pebbles led the way, knowing a shortcut back to the museum. The night air was filled with excitement and a hint of danger. Finally, they reached the museum just as dawn was breaking. Mika and Pebbles returned the painting to its rightful place. They had completed their mission!

Mika and Pebbles slipped back home before anyone noticed. Paul and Lawrence woke up, unaware of Mika's adventure. Mika snuggled beside them, happy to be home, yet unaware she had forgotten to remove her evening disguise. Based on this illustration, Paul had apparently been in a coma, lost his sight, and the use of his hands (which had basically withered into desiccated chicken feet), but he was well on his way to a full recovery. Later, the news reported the return of the missing painting. Mika wagged her tail, knowing she had done a great job. Pebbles returned home to Massachusetts, stopping at the New Hampshire welcome centre to pick up tax-free tequila on the way. She promised to join Mika on future missions because together, they were an unstoppable team. Mika was ready for her next adventure, knowing that with a little help from her friends, she was the world's greatest doggy spy.
