Young Mvidi sits on her bed, sighing as she tips her empty piggy bank. A single coin falls out. She looks at a magazine cut-out of a doll playroom on her wall, her face wistful.
Young Mvidi had a dream so bright, a playroom filled with dolls day and night. With baby dolls to cuddle and care, she'd brush their hair with love to spare. But Mvidi's piggy bank was bare, not a single coin hidden there. "I need some money," she said with a sigh, "to make my special dream fly high." She thought and wondered what to do, to make her lovely dream come true.
Mvidi stands on a sunny street outside the bank, tugging at the locked door. A large sign reads 'Closed for 100 years.' Her expression falls from hope to disappointment.
Mvidi walked down the sunny street, determined and quick on her little feet. She reached the bank and pulled the door, but found it locked, she tried once more. A sign hung there for all to see, "Closed for one hundred years," read she. Her heart sank low, her spirits fell, this wasn't going very well. "One hundred years?" she whispered low, "That's much too long, oh no, oh no!"
Mvidi stops a mailman and a shopkeeper on the sidewalk. Both shake their heads, pointing at the closed bank. She clutches her hands together, looking downcast.
Mvidi asked the neighbors passing by, "When will the bank reopen?" was her cry. The mailman said, "One hundred years, I'm afraid." The shopkeeper nodded, "That's what the notice said." Everyone confirmed the news was true, there was nothing anyone could do. Mvidi's shoulders drooped with care, her dream seemed floating in the air. She slowly walked back home that day, wondering if there was another way.
In her dim bedroom, Mvidi lies under a quilt, tears on her cheeks. Mummy sits beside her, gently wiping her face with a tissue. A nightlight glows softly.
That evening, Mvidi climbed in bed, worries spinning in her head. "Mummy," she said, "what can I do? How can I make my dream come true?" Mummy sat down with gentle grace, and wiped the tears from Mvidi's face. "My darling child, let me share, the power of gratitude and prayer. Thank God for blessings that you hold, more precious than any gold."
Mvidi kneels on her bed, hands clasped and eyes shut tight. Her purple dress wrinkles against the blanket. Starlight shines through the window as she prays.
Mvidi closed her eyes so tight, and prayed with all her might. "God help me, send me some magic please, I'd like my dream to come with ease. I'm thankful for my home so warm, for Mummy's love that keeps me from harm." Her words rose up like stars above, filled with gratitude and love. She felt peace within her heart, and drifted off to dream's sweet start.
In the dark, Mvidi stirs as sparkly stardust sprinkles across her cheek. She opens her eyes, blinking at the glowing particles floating above her bed.
In the middle of the dark night, Mvidi felt something soft and bright. Sparkly stardust touched her face, glowing with a gentle grace. She opened up her sleepy eyes, and gasped at a beautiful surprise. The room was filled with twinkling light, making everything shine so bright. Magic swirled around her bed, as wonder filled her heart and head.
Before her floats Glinda, a tiny fairy with shimmering rainbow dress, sparkly wings, and bright earrings. She holds a magic wand. Mvidi stares, wide-eyed.
Before her floated someone new, wearing a rainbow dress so true. With wings that sparkled like the sun, and earrings bright, a magic wand in one. "Don't worry, Mvidi, dry your tears, I'm Glinda the fairy, here to calm your fears. I was sent by God above, through your prayer of thanks and love. Your dream will soon come true, that's my special gift to you!"
Mvidi smiles radiantly as Glinda twirls above the bed, sprinkling fairy dust from her wand. Sparkles rain down, illuminating the room.
Mvidi's smile grew wide and bright, her heart was filled with pure delight. "Thank you, Glinda, fairy dear! God really listened, He did hear!" Glinda sprinkled fairy dust around, not making any single sound. "Your grateful heart opened the way, for magic to come out and play. Remember this feeling deep inside, let gratitude be your guide."
Glinda waves goodbye, her sparkly wings catching the light. She fades into a swirl of stars. Mvidi watches, clutching her blanket, a peaceful smile on her face.
"Sleep now, child, and dream so sweet, tomorrow brings a special treat. Your faith and thankfulness tonight, have made everything just right." Glinda waved her magic wand high, creating sparkles in the sky. She twirled around and blew a kiss, filling the room with magical bliss. Then slowly, softly, she did fade, but her promise would not be delayed.
Morning sunlight streams into the room. Mvidi springs out of bed, remembering Glinda. Downstairs, Mummy's voice calls excitedly.
When morning came with golden rays, Mvidi woke from her sleepy haze. She heard Mummy calling from downstairs, her voice filled with excited airs. "Mvidi! Mvidi! Come and see! This is a true miracle, can it be?" Mvidi jumped right out of bed, remembering what Glinda said. She raced downstairs, her heart beat fast, her dream was coming true at last!
Mummy and Mvidi open the front door to find a huge gift box on the doorstep. 'It's from the bank!' says Mummy, holding a letter. Mvidi gasps with joy.
There on the doorstep, big and wide, sat a box they brought inside. "It's from the bank!" said Mummy dear, "Look at the letter, read it here. They're sorry that they had to close, and sent you this, as goodness knows! Everything you need is there, to build your playroom with such care. Baby dolls and shelves and more, exactly what you wished for!"
Mvidi hugs Mummy tightly, then they unpack baby dolls and a shelf from the box. Mvidi's face beams with gratitude as she cradles a doll.
Mvidi smiled and hugged Mummy tight, "I knew Glinda made things right! God sent her through my prayer last night, to fill my dream with magic bright. Thank you, God, for hearing me, for love and generosity!" Together they unpacked each toy, Mvidi's heart was filled with joy. She learned that prayers with grateful hearts, can make the sweetest dreams take start.
