Oliver couldn't wait for Halloween night to begin. His green dinosaur costume with spiky scales was laid out on his bed. Mom helped him put it on, and he roared at his reflection in the mirror. His trick-or-treat bag was shaped like a pumpkin, ready to be filled with candy.

The sun was setting as Oliver stepped outside into the crisp autumn air. Jack-o-lanterns glowed on porches up and down the street. Oliver waved to other costumed children as he walked to his first house. The neighbor smiled and dropped a chocolate bar into his pumpkin bag.

At the end of the block stood a house with spider webs and ghostly decorations. Oliver hesitated, clutching his pumpkin bag tightly to his chest. He took a deep breath and remembered dinosaurs aren't afraid of anything. With newfound courage, he marched up to the door and said, "Trick or treat!"

Back at home, Oliver emptied his candy onto the living room floor. He counted twenty-three pieces, more than he'd ever gotten before. Mom made hot chocolate while he sorted his favorites into piles. Oliver decided this was the best Halloween adventure ever.
