It was Rose's first day at her new school. She was a bit nervous about meeting new friends. Rose was used to her old school and her old friends. Now everything was different. Her mom packed her favorite lunch to cheer her up. Rose held her backpack tightly as she walked in. She hoped today would be a good day. But deep down, she was worried.

When Rose arrived at the schoolyard, she saw kids playing everywhere. Some were on the swings, while others played tag. Rose stood by herself, watching them. During recess, Rose sat on a bench. She watched the other kids play. Suddenly, a girl named Lily sat next to her. Lily had a bright smile and kind eyes. 'Hi, I'm Lily,' she said cheerfully. Rose smiled back and introduced herself. Lily asked if Rose wanted to play. Rose's heart felt lighter as she nodded.

Rose and Lily played on the swings together. They laughed and talked about their favorite things. Rose felt happy and accepted. Lily introduced Rose to her other friends. They were kind and welcoming. Rose realized not everyone was mean. She started to feel like she belonged. The day was turning out better than she expected.
