In a sunny yard beneath a leafy tree, Siva Avaneesh crouches beside a sleeping brown dog that gently wags its tail; morning light filters through branches, casting dappled shadows around them.
Siva Avaneesh stepped outside and smiled at the sunshine. "Today, I'll count everything!" he said. He saw a brown dog sleeping under a leafy tree. "That's one dog!" Siva Avaneesh whispered softly. The dog wagged its tail in its sleep. Siva giggled and continued his walk.
By a wooden park bench under bright midday sun, Siva Avaneesh waves while two striped cats chase each other around his feet, their tails curling playfully across the short green grass.
Next, Siva noticed two cats playing near a bench. "Hello, kitties!" he waved. The striped cats chased each other and meowed at Siva. "That's two cats!" he cheered. Siva clapped his hands and moved along. The cats purred in reply as he left.
On an open grassy field beneath a clear blue afternoon sky, Siva Avaneesh points upward at three colorful balloons drifting together, sunlight glinting off their ribbons in a soft breeze.
Up above, Siva saw three colorful balloons floating. "Wow, look at those! One, two, three!" he counted. A gust of wind made them dance. Siva smiled and pointed at the sky. "Three balloons," he said proudly. The balloons drifted higher.
Outside a small cyle shop in warm daylight, Siva Avaneesh taps the shiny bells of four parked bicycles, a wooden sign casting a gentle shadow.
Near a small shop, Siva found four bicycles lined up. "Those must belong to friends," he guessed. He touched each shiny bell. Ding ding! "One, two, three, four bicycles!" Siva counted. A shopkeeper smiled at him from the door.
On a quiet sunlit country road, Siva Avaneesh kneels and counts five fluffy yellow chicks tottering across the dusty path, their tiny shadows stretching forward as they hurry toward tall roadside grass.
Siva heard soft peeping on the road. He saw five yellow chicks crossing carefully. "Be brave, little ones!" he cheered. He counted, "One, two, three, four, five!" The chicks hurried to the other side. Siva felt happy for their safe crossing.
In a colorful park flowerbed under late-morning light, Siva Avaneesh tiptoes among blossoms while six butterflies—blue, yellow, red, orange, yellow, blue—flutter above his head, wings catching sunlight like stained glass.
At the park, four butterflies fluttered above bright flowers. Siva tiptoed closer and whispered, "Hello, butterflies!" He named their colors: blue, yellow, red, and orange. "That makes four!" he grinned. The butterflies soared up together. Siva watched them twirl.
Beside a sunny garden fence at noon, Siva Avaneesh counts seven vividly colored flowers lined in a neat row, bending forward with a wide grin, petals gleaming like a miniature rainbow.
Siva stopped near a garden. He saw seven flowers blooming bright in the sun. "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven!" he counted aloud. Each flower had a different color. "They look like a rainbow!" Siva laughed. He took a deep breath of the sweet smell.
Along a dusty garden path in afternoon glow, Siva Avaneesh crouches inches from eight tiny ants marching single-file, his finger hovering above the line while sunlight sparkles on their minuscule bodies.
On the ground, Siva spotted tiny ants. "They walk in a line!" he noticed. He counted, "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight ants!" The ants marched quickly together. Siva waved hello. The ants kept walking without stopping.
Under soft late-afternoon shade of roadside trees, Siva Avaneesh squats beside a damp sidewalk where nine brown-shelled snails glide in a row, silver trails glimmering behind them on the concrete.
Along the sidewalk, Siva found nine snails gliding slowly. "Hello, little snails!" he greeted them. Their shells were shiny and brown. "Let's count: one, two, three...nine!" Siva said. The snails left sparkly trails. "Good luck, snails!" Siva whispered.
Outside a brightly lit pet-shop window at dusk, Siva Avaneesh presses both hands to the glass, watching 10 colorful fish zip through the illuminated tank between plastic plants and stone caves.
At a shop window, Siva saw a large fish tank. Ten colorful fish swam around quickly. "That's a lot of fish!" Siva said excitedly. He pointed and counted each one. The fish darted behind rocks and plants. "Ten fish!" Siva cheered.
On the evening sidewalk leading home, golden sunset light behind him, Siva Avaneesh skips joyfully past familiar houses, arms swinging and sneakers catching warm highlights as he recalls every creature he counted.
Siva skipped on his way home, remembering all the things he counted. He saw a dog, cats, balloons, bicycles, chicks, butterflies, flowers, ants, snails, and fish. "That was fun!" he said loudly. He added, "I learned so much today." Siva beamed at his adventure. He couldn't wait to tell his family.
Inside a cozy living-room bathed in soft lamplight, Siva Avaneesh hugs his smiling mom wearing a blue sari beside a cushioned sofa, his eyes shining as he shares the day's adventures, framed family photos glowing on the wall.
Siva ran inside and hugged his mom. "Guess how many things I counted today!" he exclaimed. His mom smiled and listened as he shared every adventure. "I'm so proud of you!" she said. Siva felt happy and proud. He looked forward to his next adventure.
