At the open barnyard at sunrise, Gandalf stands atop a wooden fence post crowing toward the pink sky, white feathers glowing. Inside the straw pen Maple smiles while Pepper and Poppy yawn beside her.
The sun rose over Susi Farm. Gandalf the rooster stretched his white feathers and fluffed his black comb. He crowed loudly to wake everyone. Maple the pig opened her eyes. Her black patches made her look like she wore special glasses. Pepper and Poppy, her two pink piglets, yawned and wiggled. "Good morning, family!" called Gandalf. "Time to start our day!" Maple smiled at the little rooster who loved them so much.
Near the fence in the sunny barnyard morning, Gandalf pecks at scattered seeds then gestures with his beak. Pepper and Poppy trot up, hooves tapping, snouts lowered, while Maple watches proudly from the grassy edge.
Gandalf hopped around the barnyard looking for breakfast. He found tasty seeds near the fence. "Come here, Pepper and Poppy!" he called. The piglets ran over with their little hooves pattering. Poppy's hairy ears bounced as she ran. Gandalf showed them where to find the best food. Maple watched proudly. "Thank you for helping my babies," she told Gandalf. The rooster puffed out his chest. He loved taking care of his family.
On a wooden fence post in the mid-morning barnyard, Gandalf stands tall, black comb rigid, scanning the grassy path. Pepper and Poppy huddle against Maple’s flank inside the pen, all eyes wide toward the unseen clattering tools nearby.
After breakfast, everyone heard a strange noise. "What's that?" asked Pepper nervously. Gandalf stood tall on a fence post. His small body looked brave and strong. "Stay close to Mama Maple," he said. The piglets huddled near their mother. Maple's black eye patches looked worried. Gandalf flew down to investigate. He walked carefully toward the sound. "I will keep you safe," he promised. His family trusted him completely.
Beside the pond under soft late-morning light, Gandalf gently guides a small yellow duckling with downy feathers toward the water’s edge. Pepper and Poppy watch from behind Maple, curiosity bright in their eyes.
Gandalf found a small duckling crying near the pond. "I can't find my mama," the duckling sobbed. Gandalf's heart felt warm with kindness. "Don't worry. I'll help you," he said gently. He led the duckling back to his family. Maple and the piglets watched with big eyes. "This is what family does," Gandalf explained to Pepper and Poppy. "We help others in need." The duckling's mother soon arrived. Everyone felt happy.
In the sunny barnyard afternoon, Gandalf stands by stacked hay bales, eyes closed and beak touching one wing as he counts. Pepper and Poppy crouch giggling behind golden hay while Maple rests beneath a shady apple tree.
The afternoon sun felt warm and nice. Poppy wanted to play a game. Her hairy ears twitched with excitement. "Let's play hide and seek!" she squealed. Pepper jumped up and down happily. Gandalf agreed to be the seeker. Maple rested under a shady tree. The piglets hid behind hay bales. Gandalf counted with his eyes closed. "Ready or not, here I come!" he called. His white feathers shined in the sunlight.
Inside the dim barn, afternoon sun filters through slats as Gandalf lifts a corner of dusty blankets piled near a tool bench. Poppy grins with dust-covered hairy ears while Maple wipes her face and Pepper laughs beside the trough.
Gandalf easily found Pepper behind the water trough. But Poppy was very good at hiding. He searched the whole barnyard carefully. Finally, he heard a tiny giggle. Poppy was hiding under some old blankets! "Found you!" Gandalf crowed happily. Poppy ran out laughing. Her hairy ears were covered in dust. Maple helped clean her up. "That was so much fun!" said Pepper. They decided to play again tomorrow.
In the wind-swept barnyard under dark afternoon clouds, Gandalf strides toward the open barn door, feathers ruffling. Maple follows sheltering Pepper and Poppy between her legs as fallen leaves swirl around their hooves.
Dark clouds filled the sky above Susi Farm. Wind began to blow harder. Maple looked up with concern. "A storm is coming," she said. Gandalf quickly gathered everyone together. "Follow me to the barn!" he called. Pepper and Poppy stayed close to their mother. Gandalf led the way with confident steps. His black comb stood up straight. They all reached the barn safely. "We're safe now," Gandalf assured them.
Inside the lantern-lit barn at night, rain lashes the tin roof above while Maple sits in straw hugging Pepper and Poppy, ears drooping. Gandalf perches beside them, beak open in mid-story, trying to spark smiles.
Rain pounded on the barn roof. Thunder rumbled loudly outside. Poppy felt scared and pressed against Maple. Her hairy ears drooped down. Gandalf nestled close to comfort her. "Don't be afraid," he said softly. "I'm right here with you." Pepper moved closer too. Maple wrapped her legs around her babies. Gandalf told funny stories to distract them. Soon everyone felt better and safer.
Outside the barn in fresh morning sunlight, Pepper and Poppy leap into a puddle, water splashing high and soaking Poppy’s hairy ears. Maple chuckles from the doorway while Gandalf watches proudly atop a dry barrel.
The storm finally ended. Sunshine broke through the clouds. Gandalf stepped outside first to check. Puddles covered the barnyard everywhere. "It's safe now!" he called. Pepper and Poppy ran out excitedly. They splashed in every puddle they found. Poppy's hairy ears got soaking wet. Maple laughed at their silly fun. Gandalf watched them play with joy. His family was happy and safe again.
At dusk in the glowing barnyard, Gandalf inspects the wooden gate latch, wings akimbo. Maple arranges clean straw in the pen while Pepper and Poppy waddle by carrying extra straw bundles in their mouths and on Poppy’s ears.
As the sun began to set, everyone helped with chores. Gandalf checked that all gates were closed. Maple made sure the piglets' sleeping area was clean. Pepper and Poppy gathered fresh straw. Poppy carried some in her mouth. Her hairy ears held pieces of straw too. "Good work, everyone," said Gandalf proudly. They worked together as a real family. Soon everything was ready for bedtime. The farm looked perfect.
Inside the lit barn loft at night, Maple reclines in a straw nest with Pepper and Poppy snuggled against her belly, eyes half-closed. Gandalf perches on a beam telling a tale, his silhouette framed by moonlight through the window.
Everyone settled down for the night. Maple lay in the soft straw. Pepper and Poppy snuggled against her warm body. Gandalf perched nearby on a wooden beam. "Tell us a story, Gandalf," begged Poppy. Her hairy ears perked up hopefully. Gandalf thought for a moment. He told them about brave farm animals helping each other. Maple smiled as the piglets' eyes grew heavy. Soon Pepper and Poppy were fast asleep.
Under the starry sky visible through the barn doorway, Gandalf stands on a beam watching Maple sleep in straw with Pepper and Poppy curled beside her. His eyes calm, night shadows lie soft around the family.
The farm grew quiet under the stars. Gandalf stayed awake a little longer. He looked at Maple and her sleeping piglets. His heart felt full of love. Being small didn't matter at all. What mattered was caring for his family. Maple whispered, "Thank you, dear Gandalf." The rooster nodded gently. He would always watch over them. Finally, Gandalf closed his eyes peacefully. Tomorrow would bring another wonderful day on Susi Farm.
