Eva and Charles Royall welcomed home a baby girl named Brianna. Briar Underwood felt proud to be her big sister and promised to take care of her. Their friend Oakley visited, eager to meet the new baby. "She’s so tiny!" Oakley said, carefully holding Brianna’s little hand. The sunshine warmed the garden as the children played nearby. Briar watched over Brianna with loving eyes. "Let’s play treasure hunt!" Briar suggested, laying out a trail of petals. Brianna giggled and crawled after the colorful path. For Briar, having a little sister was a dream come true.

Briar, Oakley, and Brianna enjoyed the garden. Brianna’s tiny hands explored every flower. Oakley laughed, "She’s already an adventurer like us!" Briar smiled, hiding behind a rose bush. Suddenly, Brianna spotted a butterfly and crawled after it. Before anyone noticed, she slipped deeper into the bushes. "Wait here, I’ll be right back," Briar told Oakley. Briar followed the sound of Brianna’s laughter. The garden felt bigger and wilder as she searched. Briar’s heart raced when she realized Brianna had vanished from sight.

Briar hurried into the shady bushes, calling, "Brianna? Where are you?" She heard a soft cry and found Lily and Lilah Gillis. They were holding Brianna and standing in the shadows. Lilah whispered, "Your life, or the baby's?" Briar bravely stepped forward and said, "Mine!" Lily gently handed Brianna back to Briar. Briar hugged Brianna close, ready to leave. But Lilah’s shadows curled around them, stopping Briar in her tracks. Briar gasped for help but stayed strong for her little sister.
Lilah’s magic made the shadows swirl tighter around Briar and Brianna. "Let us go!" Briar shouted, holding Brianna tightly. Oakley, searching nearby, heard the commotion but couldn’t see them. Lily watched nervously as the shadows lifted Briar off the ground. Brianna cried, scared. Briar whispered, “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you.” Lilah’s eyes glimmered as she made the shadows squeeze tighter. The world grew quiet as Briar began to lose breath. Yet Briar hugged Brianna with all her strength.

With one last burst of courage, Briar cried, “Take me, just let Brianna go!” Lily looked at Lilah and then suddenly, the shadows released Brianna. Briar managed to catch her little sister and held her close. "Run," Briar whispered to Brianna. Briar felt herself lifted into the air, growing weaker, but she kept her arms around Brianna. Oakley heard Brianna’s cries and ran toward the sound. The shadows gently placed Brianna down but left Briar lying still. Oakley gasped, “Oh no!” and rushed to help.

Oakley scooped up Brianna, who was crying. He knelt by Briar and gently shook her, but she didn’t wake up. "Briar? Please wake up!" he pleaded. Knowing he needed help, Oakley quickly called his friend Peter Kit. Peter dashed over and took Brianna in his arms. Oakley and Peter knew they must get Briar to Dr. Smith at the hospital. Together, they carried Briar and the baby as fast as they could. Oakley called Eva and Charles, telling them what happened. Everyone’s hearts were full of worry and hope.

Dr. Smith met them at the hospital and hurriedly examined Briar. Eva and Charles arrived, anxious and frightened. "Is Briar going to be okay?" Charles asked Dr. Smith. The doctor shook his head gently, “This has never happened before, but she has a strong heart.” Oakley held Briar’s limp hand, whispering, “You have to wake up. We need you.” Brianna cooed softly in Peter’s arms. Eva hugged Oakley and Brianna, seeking comfort. The hospital room glowed softly with hope. Everyone waited, wishing for Briar’s return.

That night, Oakley stayed by Briar’s side, holding her hand. "Briar, please come back," he whispered with tears in his eyes. Eva and Charles sat close to Brianna, comforting her. Peter watched, hoping for a miracle. Dr. Smith peeked in, offering warm milk and gentle words. The moonlight streamed through the window, making the room feel peaceful. Oakley squeezed Briar’s hand tighter. Brianna slept quietly, her tiny hand reaching out. Hope filled the hearts of everyone who loved Briar.

Suddenly, a bright light shimmered over Briar’s chest. Oakley blinked in surprise as the glow grew bigger. Eva gasped, “What’s happening?” Peter took Brianna’s hand and watched closely. Dr. Smith stepped back, amazed. The light sparkled and Briar’s eyes fluttered open. She sat up, confused but smiling. Oakley cried, “Briar! You’re back!” Everyone cheered, hugging Briar warmly.

Charles rushed in with Eva and Brianna. “Briar!” Eva exclaimed, hugging her tight. Briar smiled, happy to see her family and friends. Little Brianna giggled, crawling into Briar’s arms. Oakley wiped his tears and patted Briar’s shoulder, saying, “You were so brave!” Dr. Smith smiled, relieved and proud of Briar’s courage. Even Peter grinned, “You’re a real hero, Briar.” The family felt joy bubbling like sunshine after a storm. Together again, they promised always to protect each other. Briar knew being a big sister was the best adventure yet.

Back home, Briar gently rocked Brianna to sleep. “I’ll always look after you,” she whispered. Oakley and Peter played quietly nearby, keeping watch. Eva and Charles cuddled together, grateful for their family’s safety. Briar felt warmth fill her heart as she watched her sister smile. “We did it together,” Oakley said with a grin. Laughter filled the home with happiness. Briar hugged Brianna, feeling braver and stronger than ever. Tomorrow would bring more adventures, but tonight they rested as a family.

The next morning, the sun peeked into Briar’s room. Brianna crawled over and snuggled into Briar’s side. “Good morning, little sister,” Briar said gently. Oakley peered in, ready for a new day. Eva called, “Breakfast!” and everyone hurried downstairs. Briar looked around and felt lucky to have a family and friends. Peter joined them with a cheerful wave. Together, they faced the day, ready for more fun and love. With her new sister, Briar’s adventures had only just begun.
