On the morning of Easter, the house smelled like sunshine and something warm and sweet.
Lily padded into the kitchen in her fuzzy bunny slippers and stopped very still.
Bowls… jars… spoons… and a rainbow of fruits and vegetables covered the table.
Blueberries. Beets. Yellow powder in a tiny dish. Onion skins that looked like crinkly paper.
And right in the middle…
A carton of plain white eggs.

Mom filled three pots with water and placed them on the stove. Lily helped drop beets into one pot, blueberries into another, and onion skins into the third. "Watch closely," Mom whispered as the water began to bubble. The clear water slowly changed colors like magic. The beet water turned deep pink, the blueberry water became purple, and the onion water glowed golden yellow. "It's like a rainbow!" Lily squealed with delight. Mom hugged her daughter tight.

Mom carefully lowered white eggs into each colorful pot using a big spoon. "Now we wait," she told Lily. They sat together, watching the eggs soak up the natural colors. After a while, Mom lifted the first egg out. "Look, Lily!" The egg was now bright pink. Lily giggled as they pulled out a purple egg and then a yellow one. "They're so pretty!" Lily said. She gently touched each egg with wonder.

Mom and Lily arranged their colorful eggs in a basket on the table. The pink, purple, and yellow eggs looked beautiful together. "We made these with nature's magic," Mom said softly. Lily hugged her mom tight. "This was the best day ever," she whispered. Mom kissed her daughter's head. They admired their work together, feeling proud and happy. "Can we do this again next year?" Lily asked hopefully. "Absolutely," Mom promised with a warm smile.
