Kamya stood at the pool. The high diving board looked like a tower reaching the sky. Her friends splashed below. "Come on, Kamya!" they called. She climbed the ladder slowly. One step. Two steps. Her hands gripped tight. At the top, she looked down. The water seemed so far away. Her heart pounded. "I can't do this," she whispered. Kamya turned around and climbed back down.

The next day, Coach Maya found Kamya sitting alone. "I saw you at the high dive yesterday," she said gently. Kamya looked down. "I was too scared," she admitted. Coach Maya smiled. "Being scared is okay. Brave people feel scared too. They just don't let fear win." She put a hand on Kamya's shoulder. "Want to try again together?" Kamya thought hard. Then she nodded. "Yes," she said. "I want to try."

Kamya and Coach Maya walked to the ladder. "Let's go slow," Coach said. Kamya climbed up. This time she didn't look down. She focused on each step. At the top, her legs shook. "Take your time," Coach called from below. Kamya inched toward the edge. The board bounced under her feet. She stopped. Then she remembered Coach's words. Brave people feel scared too. She took a deep breath.

Kamya stood at the edge. Her heart raced but she didn't climb down. "You've got this!" her friends shouted. She bent her knees. "I am brave," she said aloud. Then Kamya jumped. The air rushed past her. Splash! The cool water surrounded her. She popped up grinning. Everyone cheered. Coach Maya clapped proudly. Kamya climbed out feeling taller. She had faced her fear. And she had won.
