In the bright breakfast nook, morning sun spills across the table as Eli lights a small candle. Allie smiles beside him while Hadley Grace hugs her teddy bear, eyes closed for prayer beside the glowing flame.
"Good morning fam jam!" said Daddy Eli as he gathered the family. "Today, we're going to talk about carrying God's light," Mommy Allie added with a smile. Hadley Grace hugged her teddy bear while Parker clapped his tiny hands. "Just like this candle brightens our table, we can brighten the world," Eli explained, lighting a small flame. "Let's pray together and ask God to help us shine today!" Allie said as they all closed their eyes.
"Mommy, can I help with breakfast?" Hadley Grace asked, her blue eyes sparkling. Allie smiled and lifted her daughter onto a stool. "When we help each other, we serve the Lord," she explained as Hadley carefully placed napkins by each plate. Parker watched from his high chair, tossing his spoon with a giggle. "Even picking up toys is serving God," Daddy Eli said, helping Parker retrieve the fallen spoon. "Serve one another in love," Mommy reminded them from Galatians 5:13.
After breakfast, Hadley saw Parker reaching for her favorite doll. "No, Parker! That's mine!" she frowned, holding it tight. Mommy Allie knelt beside her and whispered, "Remember how Jesus shared His love with everyone?" Hadley thought for a moment, then gently handed the doll to her little brother. "You can play for a little while," she said with a small smile. Parker's face lit up with joy as Daddy Eli gave Hadley a proud thumbs-up.
Inside the brightly lit preschool snack area, Hadley Grace extends a plate of apple slices toward a shy new girl at a tiny table. Crayon murals and cubbies color the background.
At preschool, Hadley noticed a girl sitting alone during snack time. "Her name is Maya, and she's new," Teacher explained softly. Remembering morning prayer about sharing God's light, Hadley walked over with her apple slices. "Would you like to share?" she asked with a smile. Maya nodded shyly, and soon they were giggling together. "You made her day brighter," Teacher said when Mommy Allie came to pick her up.
"How do you shine God's light at work, Daddy?" Hadley asked as Eli returned home. He scooped her up with a smile and sat on the couch. "Today I helped a new coworker who was confused," he explained. "And I shared my lunch with someone who forgot theirs." Parker climbed onto Daddy's lap, listening intently. "Small kindnesses can make a big difference," Eli said, tapping Hadley's nose gently. "Let your light shine before others," he quoted from Matthew 5:16.
Sunny afternoon in Mrs. Wilson's front garden, Hadley Grace carefully tips a watering can over bright flowers while Eli pushes a mower behind her. An elderly neighbor Mrs. Wilson watches happily from the porch railing.
On Saturday, the family walked next door where Mrs. Wilson, an elderly neighbor, lived alone. "We've come to help with your garden!" announced Mommy Allie cheerfully. Hadley Grace carefully watered the flowers while Daddy Eli mowed the lawn. Even little Parker helped by picking up small twigs and putting them in a bucket. "You've brought sunshine to my day," Mrs. Wilson said, her eyes twinkling. Later, they shared cookies and sang songs together on her porch.
"Can we make cookies for Mr. Jenkins too?" Hadley asked, remembering their neighbor who used a wheelchair. "What a wonderful idea!" Mommy Allie beamed, getting out the mixing bowl. Parker sat in his high chair, sprinkling (and spilling) chocolate chips. "Jesus taught us to love our neighbors," Daddy Eli explained, helping Hadley stir the dough. When they delivered the warm cookies, Mr. Jenkins' smile was brighter than the sun. "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord," Daddy whispered, quoting Joshua 24:15.
"We're going to church to worship God, but also to serve," Mommy Allie explained as she brushed Hadley's long blonde hair. At church, Hadley helped hand out papers with the songs. Parker gave everyone his biggest smile from Daddy's arms. "Hello! Welcome!" Hadley said to each person who entered. After the service, she helped collect the song books while Daddy and Mommy talked with friends. "Serving makes church even more special," Hadley told Parker.
"Time to clean our rooms!" announced Daddy Eli after lunch. Hadley frowned but remembered about serving with love. "I'll help Parker pick up his blocks," she offered, taking her brother's hand. "Working together makes it easier," Mommy Allie said, helping them sort toys. Parker giggled as he dropped stuffed animals in the toy box. "When we keep our home tidy, we're honoring God with order," Daddy explained. "You're both little lights shining brightly today!" Mommy praised.
"Tell us about Jesus helping people," Hadley requested at bedtime, snuggling with her teddy. Parker climbed onto Daddy's lap with his favorite blanket. "Jesus washed His friends' feet to show that serving others is important," Eli explained gently. "Even though He was their teacher, He wasn't too important to help." Hadley thought about this while Daddy tucked the blankets around her. "I want to be like Jesus tomorrow," she whispered sleepily. "You already shine His light, my sweet girl," Daddy said, kissing her forehead.
"Can we make a card for my teacher?" Hadley asked Mommy the next morning. "She looked tired yesterday." Allie helped her fold colorful paper while Parker scribbled with crayons. "Dear Teacher, thank you for helping us learn," Hadley dictated as Mommy wrote the words. Hadley carefully drew flowers around the edge. "Your kindness will brighten her whole day," Mommy said proudly. When Hadley gave the card, Teacher's eyes filled with happy tears.
In the softly lit dining room, five glowing candles line the center of the table, their reflections dancing on evening plates. Eli, Allie, and Hadley Grace clasp hands around the centerpiece, pausing to pray.
That evening, the family gathered around the dinner table where five candles glowed. "Each candle represents something kind we did today," Daddy Eli explained. "Hadley's card for Teacher, Parker sharing toys, Mommy helping a lost customer, and my visit to Grandpa." Hadley pointed to the middle candle, the tallest one. "What's that one for?" she asked curiously. "That's God's light that shines through all of us when we serve with love," Mommy answered. "Together, we make the world brighter," Daddy said as they held hands to pray.
