High up in the bright blue sky, lived Nimbus, fluffy, soft, and spry. He watched the moon shine every night, so beautiful, so round, so bright. "I want to hug the moon!" he'd say, though other clouds would float away. "You're much too small," they'd laugh and tease. "The moon's too far! Just float with ease!" But Nimbus had a heart so true, and dreamed of what he'd love to do. Each night he'd watch with hope and wonder, "Tomorrow I'll reach up there, yonder!" His dream was big, his heart was pure, of one thing Nimbus felt quite sure.

When morning came with golden light, Nimbus thought about the night. "I need a plan!" he said out loud. "I must become a stronger cloud!" He watched the eagles soar up high, and shooting stars that zipped on by. "If they can travel far and fast, then I can make my journey last!" He'd gather raindrops, light and clear, and practice floating without fear. "I'll stretch and grow and reach up tall, until I'm not so very small!" The sun smiled down upon his face, as Nimbus planned his moonward race. With determination in his heart, he knew just where he'd start!

A bluebird flew up to his side, "Where are you going?" she replied. "I'm heading to the moon so bright, to give it a hug tonight!" The bird chirped sweetly, "What a goal! You have a brave and caring soul! I'll help you practice flying high, together we can touch the sky!" They practiced swooping, dipping, soaring, never once did they find it boring. The bluebird taught him wind currents' ways, how to use them through the days. "Thank you, friend!" said Nimbus true. "I couldn't do this without you!" With friendship strong and spirits bright, they practiced morning, noon, and night.

That evening when the moon appeared, Nimbus tried, though slightly feared. He floated up with all his might, stretching toward the silver light. He pushed and puffed and rose up high, reaching, reaching through the sky! But just when he got halfway there, he ran out of his cloudy air. He floated down, feeling quite sad, though the bluebird said, "Not bad! You made it further than before! Tomorrow you will rise up more!" Nimbus wiped a raindrop tear, "Will I ever make it there?" But deep inside, he heard a voice, "Keep trying! That's your choice!"

The next day, Nimbus felt quite blue, wondering what else he could do. The bluebird said, "Don't feel defeated! Your dream shouldn't be deleted! Every try teaches you something new, helps you learn what you can do." Nimbus thought about her words, watching other clouds and birds. "You're right, my friend! I learned today, that rushing isn't the best way. I need to gather strength and rest, to give my very, very best!" So Nimbus drank the morning dew, and felt his fluffy body grew. With patience now within his heart, he'd make an even better start!

A gentle wind came whistling by, "Hello, little cloud!" it did cry. "I've heard about your moonward quest, of all the clouds, you try your best!" Nimbus asked, "Can you help me, please? You travel far with so much ease!" The wind replied with swirling grace, "I'll teach you how to pace the race. Don't fight against the air that flows, just ride along where nature goes. Be patient, flexible, and light, and you'll reach greater height!" Nimbus practiced bending, swaying, doing exactly what wind was saying. He learned to dance upon the breeze, floating gently with such ease!

Days passed by with practice true, and Nimbus grew and grew and grew! He collected raindrops, pure and bright, that made him sparkle in the light. He stretched himself both wide and tall, now he wasn't quite so small! The other clouds began to see, Nimbus worked so diligently. "Keep going, Nimbus!" they would cheer. "Your dream is getting very near!" Even those who laughed before, now they didn't anymore. They saw his heart was brave and kind, with the strongest, sweetest mind. Nimbus smiled at everyone, his journey had just begun!

When the moon rose full and round, Nimbus left the lower ground. With all he'd learned, he floated high, determined as he climbed the sky. The bluebird flew beside him there, the wind supported everywhere! Higher, higher, up he rose, past where the tallest mountain goes! His cloudy body stretched up far, he passed a twinkling, shining star! But still the moon seemed far away, though closer than the other day. He floated back when dawn arrived, happy that he'd really tried! "I'm getting closer!" Nimbus said. "I'll rest, then try again ahead!" His hope was stronger than before, he'd keep trying more and more!

While Nimbus rested on the breeze, the moon spoke softly, "If you please, I've watched you try with all your heart, you've been so brave right from the start. I see your love from way up here, your kindness, warm and very clear. But little cloud, I'll tell you true, there's something special about you! You don't need to reach me high, to show your love across the sky. Your caring heart, your gentle way, shows love to all both night and day!" Nimbus listened, thinking deep, about the love he'd tried to keep. "There might be other ways," he thought, "to share the love I've always sought!"

Nimbus thought throughout the day, "The moon has shown another way! Perhaps a hug isn't just physical touch, but showing care that means so much!" He gathered raindrops, light and clear, shaped them with love so very dear. He made a rainbow, bright and true, with every color, every hue! The arc stretched up across the sky, from low ground to the heavens high! "This is my hug!" said Nimbus bright. "A rainbow bridge of love and light! It connects the earth up to the moon, like a hug that comes at noon!" The bluebird chirped, "How very clever! The best hug that lasts forever!"

That night, the moon shone extra bright, sending down its silver light. It touched the rainbow Nimbus made, in its gentle, glowing shade. "Dear Nimbus," said the moon with glee, "Thank you for your gift to me! This rainbow hug is pure and true, the most creative gift I've viewed! You persevered through every try, you never let your dream just die. And in the end, you found a way, to show your love in a new display!" Nimbus felt so warm inside, his fluffy chest swelled up with pride. Not because he'd won or beat, but made his dream and moon complete!

Now Nimbus makes rainbows every day, sending moon hugs in his way. He learned that love comes in many forms, through sunshine, rain, and gentle storms. Other clouds now follow suit, making rainbows, oh so cute! The sky is filled with colored light, connecting earth and moon so bright. "Dreams come true in different ways," Nimbus tells clouds on cloudy days. "Keep trying, learning, growing strong, and you'll find where you belong! Love isn't always what we planned, sometimes it's even more grand!" And every night, the moon shines down, on Nimbus, the bravest cloud around. Together they share love so true, inspiring me and inspiring you!
