JJ and Jade walked home from school together. JJ carried his little red umbrella. His friend Jacob walked beside them, talking about their math test. Suddenly, dark clouds filled the sky. The wind picked up and leaves swirled around their feet. "Look at those clouds!" Jade said, pointing up. "It's going to rain!" Jacob looked worried. "I forgot my umbrella at home," he said. JJ felt the first raindrop land on his nose. More drops began to fall.

Rain started falling faster. JJ quickly opened his little red umbrella with a pop. "Come here, Jade!" he called to his sister. Jade ran under the umbrella and stayed close to JJ. Jacob stood in the rain, getting wet. His hair dripped water down his face. JJ saw his friend shivering. "Jacob, come share with us!" JJ said. He held the umbrella higher. Jacob smiled and squeezed under the red umbrella. Now all three friends were together.

The three friends walked slowly under the little red umbrella. Rain pattered on the fabric above their heads. "This is cozy," Jade giggled. They had to walk close together to stay dry. Jacob held one side of the umbrella to help JJ. "Thanks for sharing, JJ," Jacob said. "You're a good friend." Puddles formed on the sidewalk. They carefully stepped around them. The umbrella kept them mostly dry. JJ felt happy helping his sister and his friend.

They reached Jacob's house first. "See you tomorrow!" Jacob waved and ran inside. JJ and Jade continued walking home. The rain started to slow down. "That was nice of you to share," Jade told her brother. JJ smiled at his little sister. "Mom always says sharing is important," he replied. They turned the corner to their street. The sun peeked through the clouds. A rainbow appeared in the sky. JJ closed his little red umbrella as they reached home.
