Tommy loved walking in Sunny Park. The trees were tall and green. Birds sang happy songs. He skipped along the path with a big smile. Then he heard a loud roar. Tommy stopped and looked around. His heart began to beat fast. What was that scary sound? He walked forward slowly. Around the corner, he saw something amazing. A real dragon stood in the clearing! Its scales were bright red and orange. Smoke puffed from its nose.

The dragon turned its head toward Tommy. Its yellow eyes were as big as plates. Tommy gasped and froze for a second. Then the dragon opened its mouth wide. Flames shot out toward the sky! Tommy didn't wait another moment. He spun around and ran as fast as his legs could go. His shoes pounded on the path. The dragon roared again behind him. Tommy could feel the heat getting closer. He had to find somewhere safe to hide!

Tommy ran faster than ever before. He saw the river sparkling ahead. The dragon's hot breath warmed his back. Without thinking twice, Tommy jumped into the cool water with a big splash! He started swimming toward the other side. The water felt wonderful and safe. The dragon stopped at the river's edge. It roared loudly but didn't follow him. Dragons don't like water! Tommy kept swimming until he reached the far bank. He climbed out and looked back.

Tommy sat on the grass, catching his breath. Suddenly, an old man in a purple robe appeared. Stars sparkled on his hat. "Well done, brave boy," the man said with a kind smile. "I am the Magic Man, and that was my dragon. He was just practicing his fire breathing. I'm sorry he scared you!" The Magic Man waved his wand. The dragon shrank down to the size of a puppy. "Would you like to pet him now?" Tommy laughed and nodded. What an adventure!
