Gitty carefully drew colorful flowers on her letter to Bubby. She wrote 'I love you' in big letters. 'This will make Grandma so happy!' she said. Gitty put the letter in an envelope and added a sticker. Mom helped her write Bubby's address. They walked to the mailbox together. Gitty stood on her tiptoes and dropped the letter inside. 'Bye-bye, letter! Go to Bubby!' she called. Gitty couldn't wait for Bubby to get her surprise.

The Mailman collected letters from the blue mailbox. He had so many letters today! As he walked to his truck, Gitty's letter slipped out. It fell softly onto the sidewalk behind him. The Mailman didn't notice. He drove away in his mail truck. Gitty's special letter lay on the ground, all alone. The wind pushed it under a bush. Days passed, but Bubby never got the letter. Gitty felt sad and confused.

'Bubby, did you get my letter?' Gitty asked on the phone. 'No, sweetie. I haven't received anything,' Bubby said gently. Gitty's eyes filled with tears. 'I worked so hard on it!' Mom hugged Gitty tight. 'Let's call the post office,' Mom suggested. They talked to the Mailman. 'I'll check my route right away,' he promised. The Mailman felt terrible. He remembered collecting mail from that mailbox. 'I'll find it!' he said.

The Mailman walked slowly along his route, looking carefully everywhere. He checked near the mailbox. Then he spotted something colorful under the bush! 'I found it!' he shouted happily. He brought the letter straight to Bubby's house. Gitty and Mom were already there visiting. 'Here's your special letter!' the Mailman said. Bubby opened it and smiled at the beautiful flowers. 'It was worth the wait!' Bubby hugged Gitty. Everyone was happy again.
