In the backyard, morning sunlight filters through an old oak as Nick stands on the new wooden platform, grinning down at Ozzy climbing the trunk ladder; Tom, the red-white-brown cat, barks excitedly at the base.
Nick climbed up the old oak tree in his backyard. At the top, he found a wooden platform. "This is perfect!" he shouted. His cat Tom barked below. Ozzy ran over from next door. "What did you find?" she asked. Nick grinned. "Our own treehouse! Let's make it our secret club headquarters." Ozzy's eyes sparkled. "Yes! What should we call it?" Nick thought hard. "The Friendship Club!" Tom wagged his tail in agreement. They shook hands on their new adventure.
Inside the cozy treehouse on a bright afternoon, Ozzy kneels by a paper sheet, writing colorful rules with crayons while Nick stands beside her, hand raised for a triumphant high-five; their freshly hung rule poster flutters on the wooden wall.
The next day, Nick and Ozzy climbed into the treehouse. Tom waited below, guarding their spot. "Every club needs rules," Ozzy said. She pulled out paper and crayons. Nick nodded. "Rule one: be kind to everyone." Ozzy wrote it down. "Rule two: have fun every day!" Nick added. "Rule three: always help your friends," Ozzy suggested. They hung the rules on the treehouse wall. Tom barked happily. "Our club is official now!" Nick cheered. They gave each other a high-five.
Under a maple tree in Mrs. Chen’s yard, Ozzy gently cradles the rescued orange cat after coaxing it down, while Nick nearby speaks into a phone; golden afternoon light filters through leaves, and binoculars lie on the grass.
"Our club needs an adventure," Nick declared on day three. Ozzy agreed. "Let's help Mrs. Chen find her missing cat!" They grabbed their binoculars and climbed down. Tom sniffed the ground, leading the way. They searched behind bushes and under porches. "Look!" Ozzy pointed to a tree. A orange cat sat on a high branch, meowing. Nick called Mrs. Chen while Ozzy coaxed the cat down with soft words. The cat jumped into Ozzy's arms. Mrs. Chen was so happy! "You're wonderful helpers," she said, giving them cookies.
On the sunlit treehouse porch, Nick and Ozzy paint a colorful ‘Welcome’ sign propped against the railing as Tom, the red-white-brown cat, crunches a biscuit beside them; two smiling neighborhood kids watch from the ladder below.
Back at the treehouse, Nick and Ozzy shared their cookies. "That was amazing!" Nick said proudly. Tom crunched on a dog biscuit Mrs. Chen had given him. "Should we let other kids join our club?" Ozzy wondered. Nick smiled. "If they follow our rules, yes!" They made a welcome sign for the treehouse. The next day, two more neighborhood kids asked to join. Nick, Ozzy, and Tom taught them the rules. Everyone promised to be kind, have fun, and help others. Their Friendship Club was growing bigger and better!
