James played at the beach with his mom. He dug in the sand with his hands. Something shiny caught his eye. James pulled out a golden coin! "Mom, look what I found!" he shouted. His mother examined it carefully. "This coin is very old, James. Maybe 500 years old!" James wondered where it came from. Could there be more treasure nearby?

That night, James thought about his mom's birthday next week. She worked hard every day. He wanted to give her something special. James looked at the old coin on his desk. "If there's one coin, maybe there's a whole treasure chest!" he whispered. James decided he would search for it. He would find the treasure for his mom!

The next morning, James put on his swimming suit. He grabbed his snorkel and mask. His mom packed him a lunch. "Be careful in the water, James," she said, hugging him. "I will, Mom!" James promised. He ran to the beach with excitement. The ocean sparkled in the bright sunshine. Today, his treasure hunt would begin!

James waded into the cool water. He put on his mask and snorkel. Taking a deep breath, he dove under the surface. Colorful fish swam past him. The sandy bottom stretched out below. James searched carefully for any signs of treasure. Then he saw something strange ahead. Dark rocks formed a mysterious cave entrance!

James swam closer to the cave. It looked dark and a little scary. But he was brave! He thought about his mom's smile. That gave him courage to continue. James squeezed through the narrow opening. Inside, the cave glowed with green light. Strange shells covered the walls. Something magical was happening here!

A glowing figure appeared before James! It was a ghost pirate with a big hat. "I am Captain Black!" the ghost boomed. James was scared but stood tall. "I'm looking for treasure, sir," James said bravely. The ghost pirate laughed. "Many have tried, young lad. None have succeeded!" Captain Black pulled out a glowing sword. "You must prove yourself worthy!"

"I challenge you to a duel!" Captain Black declared. He tossed James a glowing sword. James caught it, surprised by how light it felt. "If you win, the treasure is yours!" the ghost said. James nodded nervously. The ghost pirate swung first! James blocked the sword. Clang! The sound echoed through the cave. The challenge had begun!

James and Captain Black fought back and forth. Swing! Block! Clang! The swords flashed in the green light. James remembered his mom and fought harder. He ducked under the ghost's swing. Then James tapped the pirate's shoulder with his sword. "Point for me!" James shouted. Captain Black laughed loudly. "Well done, brave boy! You have won!"

Captain Black pointed to a corner of the cave. There sat an old wooden chest! James swam over and opened it carefully. Inside were hundreds of golden coins! Jewels and pearls sparkled too. "This treasure has waited 500 years," the ghost said. "Take it for your mother." James smiled so wide! "Thank you, Captain Black!" he said gratefully.

As James filled his bag with treasure, something special caught his eye. One coin glowed brighter than all the others. Captain Black noticed James looking at it. "That coin is magical," the ghost whispered. "Keep it secret, keep it safe." James nodded and slipped it into his pocket. It felt warm against his side. This would be his special secret!

James said goodbye to Captain Black. The ghost pirate waved and faded away. James swam back through the cave entrance. His bag was heavy with treasure! He kicked his legs hard toward the surface. Finally, his head popped above the waves. The beach was just ahead! James couldn't wait to see his mom's face!

On his mom's birthday, James gave her the treasure. His mother gasped with joy and hugged him tight. "James, this is amazing!" she cried happily. They celebrated with cake and songs. James touched the secret coin in his pocket. It still glowed warmly, just for him. He had given his mom the best gift ever. And he had his own magical memory too!
