In the snow-covered backyard on a bright winter afternoon, Kirk kneels beside a half-built snowman, gazing up inquisitively at Kya who stands in a wool coat, smiling warmly. Soft sunlight sparkles on drifting snowflakes around them.
One snowy day, young Kirk at play, stopped and thought to say, "Mommy, come this way! Who is God? I want to know today!" His mom smiled bright with pure delight, "My son, let me explain it right. God is my joy, my precious boy, like when you play in snow so white!"
Beside the frosty front porch at dusk, Abe kneels on the snowy ground, meeting Kirk's Sister eye-to-eye with an encouraging grin. The porch light glows amber, highlighting their breathy clouds in the crisp evening air.
Skye came running near, with questions ringing loud and clear. "Daddy, we want to hear! Tell us more about God so dear!" Abe knelt down upon the ground, and spoke with such a joyful sound, "My daughter sweet, God makes me complete, like warm stew when it's cold around!"
Inside Grandmother's cozy living-room at night, Grandmother embraces Kirk and Kirk's Sister beside a crackling fireplace, her gentle face shining in lamplight. Quilts, rocking chair, and snow-dusted boots by the door frame the warm scene.
The children skipped to Grandmother's door, "G-Mommy, tell us something more! Is God real? We want to be sure! Please help us learn and then explore!" Grandmother hugged them oh so tight, her gentle face was shining bright, "Come sit with me, and you will see, I'll help you understand tonight!"
Still in the lamplit living-room, Grandmother sits in a high-back chair with arms spread wide, addressing Kirk and Kirk's Sister who sit cross-legged on a patterned rug. Stacked picture books and a towering grandfather clock flank the trio.
"Well, babies, come gather near and let me tell you that God made everything here! Can you imagine that? It's clear! God is bigger than buildings! God is love, this much is true, God made the world for me and you!"
Beneath the same ceiling on a sunny morning, Grandmother clasps Kirk's and Kirk's Sister's hands atop the rug, her eyes sparkling. Sunbeams through lace curtains illuminate colorful toy blocks and glint off her silver hair.
Grandmother smiled and took their hands, "Let me help you understand. God is a super parent grand, a super friend across the land! God is superhero strong, helping everyone along, even Superman would say, God's the greatest all day long!"
In the living-room afternoon glow, Grandpa stands beside the fireplace, gesturing toward a painting of sunlit ocean waves while Kirk and Kirk's Sister listen from the sofa. Dust motes drift in the golden light around his kindly smile.
Grandpa joined them in the room, "Let's chase away that wonder's gloom! Ocean waves and sunny days, purple flowers in sun's warm rays! Fresh air blowing everywhere, do you know how much God cares? Do you know just who you are, precious children by far?"
That night in the snow-blanketed backyard, Grandpa points a flashlight skyward, illuminating Kirk and Kirk's Sister as they gaze at a cascade of bright stars overhead. The breath of all three hangs silver in the crisp darkness.
"Look up high!" said Grandpa wise, "Night skies full of starry eyes! Mountain tops that reach up far, animals that play and are! Silly games they love to play, God made them all, I say! Do you know just who you are?"
Next afternoon at the nearby park, Kirk leaps from a mossy log while Kya stands clapping beside tall green trees and a winding river. Sunlight dances on fluttering leaves and tiny bugs that crawl across the log.
Kirk jumped up with pure delight, His mom clapped her hands so bright! "Green trees standing very tall, rivers flowing, bugs that crawl! God made them, one and all! Now tell us, do you know who you are, standing proud and standing tall?"
Inside the softly lit den at twilight, Abe sits on a plush ottoman, speaking gently to Kirk who stands by the window dotted with early stars. A glowing table lamp silhouettes framed photos and casts warm light on their faces.
Dad spoke soft with loving care, "God creates with time to spare. He made the stars up in the sky, but made you more precious, here's why: You're more precious than stars that gleam, you're part of His eternal dream! Your scars He cares about each day!"
Later, in the kitchen under bright morning light, Grandmother rests her hands on the table while Kirk's Sister listens, eyes wide. A fruit bowl, steaming cocoa mugs, and floral curtains create a cheerful backdrop to Grandmother's reassuring smile.
Grandmother said with voice so sweet, "Listen now, this truth is neat! You are a prize, yes it's true! You're the apple of God's eye, you two! Did you know you're special dear? You're His honor vessel here! God made you wonderfully great!"
In the bright living-room afternoon, Grandpa stands before Kirk and Kirk's Sister with a wide grin, index finger raised in playful emphasis. Sunlight through sheer curtains casts long lines across the rug and polished wooden floor.
"Did you know you're really great? That's not up for debate!" said Grandpa with a grin. "Did you know God's always on time? He is never, ever late, my dears! He loves you beyond your fears! You are wonderfully made, it's true, God took His time creating you!"
In the candle-lit living-room at evening, Kirk and Kirk's Sister stand hand-in-hand at the center of a family circle, faces calm and thoughtful. Flickering light reflects off joined hands while shadowy shapes of adults surround them with warmth.
The family gathered, hand in hand, Kirk and his sister understand. "We hope now you can clearly see, God is many things to those in need! Yes, God is real, this much is true, but the real question, my loves so new: Who is God to you, to you? Who is God to you?"
