Finny, a very colorful fish, waved his tail. "Hello! Want to learn about fish?" he bubbled. "Fish live in water and have backbones!" Finny swam in circles, showing off his shiny scales. "We breathe with gills and most of us have fins!"

Finny pointed to his fins. "Fins help me swim fast!" Then he flapped his tail. "My tail steers me left and right!" He puffed out his cheeks. "And these gills? They help me breathe!"

"Fish live everywhere," Finny said cheerfully. "Some, like my friend Trout, live in lakes." "Others, like Tuna, live in the big salty ocean!" "Some even live deep where it's dark."

"We don't breathe air like you!" Finny giggled. "Water comes in my mouth and out my gills." That’s how fish get oxygen to stay alive. "Gills act like magic filters!"

Finny wiggled. "I'm an omnivore: I munch plants and bugs!" Goldie the goldfish likes nibbling leaves. Sharky prefers tasty seals. "Different fish eat different foods!"

"Fish start as eggs," Finny explained. "Then we hatch as tiny fry!" Soon, fry grow bigger and become juveniles. After some time, we’re adult fish!

"Some fish hide by looking like rocks," Finny whispered. Others swim fast or have sharp teeth! "Many stay safe in big groups called schools." "There are many ways to stay safe!"

"Flying fish can glide above water!" Finny exclaimed. "Some fish, like lanternfish, glow in the dark!" "And guess what? In seahorse families, dads carry the babies!"
