Mia sat at the kitchen table, swinging her legs. Her baptism was only two weeks away! She felt excited but also confused. Sister Chen, her Primary teacher, had promised to help her understand the special promises she would make. Mia hoped it would make sense soon. She wanted to be ready.

Sister Chen arrived with a small bag. She pulled out three teddy bears: one gold, one blue, and one white. Mia giggled at their fuzzy ears. Sister Chen smiled warmly. "These bears will help you remember your baptismal covenants," she explained. Mia leaned forward, curious and ready to learn.

Sister Chen held up the golden bear. "This one helps you remember to bear His name," she said. "When you're baptized, you take Jesus Christ's name. You promise to think of Him and act like Him." Mia touched the soft fur. "So I try to be kind like Jesus?" she asked. Sister Chen nodded proudly.

Mia thought about Jesus. He helped people and loved everyone. "Can I bear His name by being helpful at school?" Mia asked. Sister Chen beamed. "Absolutely! When you choose the right and treat others with kindness, you're keeping that promise." Mia hugged the golden bear tight, feeling brave and happy.

Next came the blue bear. "This bear reminds you to bear one another's burdens," Sister Chen explained. Mia looked puzzled. "What does that mean?" she asked. Sister Chen smiled gently. "It means helping people when they're sad, lonely, or need a friend. You serve others and make their troubles lighter."

Mia remembered when her friend Emma felt sad at recess. Mia had played with her and made her smile. "Is that bearing burdens?" Mia asked excitedly. Sister Chen clapped her hands. "Yes! Exactly that. Comforting friends, helping with chores, being there for people—that's how you keep this promise." Mia felt proud.

Sister Chen lifted the white bear last. "This one stands for bearing testimony," she said softly. Mia tilted her head. "What's testimony?" she asked. "It's sharing what you believe about Jesus and God. It's being a good example so others can see God's light in you," Sister Chen explained warmly.

"You don't have to give a big speech," Sister Chen continued. "Sometimes bearing testimony means choosing good friends, saying kind words, or living what you believe." Mia nodded slowly. "So people can see I love Jesus by how I act?" "Exactly," Sister Chen said, squeezing Mia's hand gently.

Over the next week, Mia practiced her three promises. She helped her neighbor carry groceries—bearing burdens. She said a prayer before lunch at school—bearing His name. She invited a lonely classmate to play—bearing testimony through kindness. Each day, she remembered the three bears and felt more ready.

Baptism morning came with sunshine streaming through Mia's window. She dressed in white and looked in the mirror. The three bears sat on her dresser, reminding her of her promises. Mia felt peaceful and excited. She whispered, "I'm ready now." Her heart felt full and light at once.

At the church, Mia walked into the warm water with her dad. She felt calm and sure. As she came up from the water, she thought of the golden, blue, and white bears. She remembered each promise: bear His name, bear burdens, and bear testimony. Mia smiled brightly, feeling happy and blessed.

After her baptism, Mia kept the three bears on her bookshelf. Whenever she saw them, she remembered her covenants. Some days were easier than others, but the bears helped her stay on track. Mia knew these three promises would guide her always. She felt grateful for Sister Chen and her special lesson.
