In a tiny castle on a spooky hill lived Benny, a silly young vampire. He loved making funny faces, jumping on his bed, and flapping like a bat. One evening, Mommy Vampire said, "Benny, please stay inside tonight. The forest is dangerous." "Yes, Mommy!" Benny said. But the moment she turned around, he giggled, "Hehehe! I'm going outside!" and zoomed out the window into the night.

"Wheeee!" Benny shouted, flying through the dark forest. Suddenly, he spotted something big and round. "Ahhh! A monster!" he screamed. It was only a giant pumpkin, but Benny didn't wait to look twice. He flew backward, flapping wildly, and landed with a loud PLOP right in a prickly bush. "Help! Help!" Benny cried, tangled in leaves and twigs, wishing he had listened to Mommy after all.

"Benny?" called a voice. It was Mommy Vampire! She found him covered in leaves, sitting by the pumpkin. "Benny, what did Mommy tell you?" she asked gently. Benny looked down. "You told me to stay inside..." "And did you listen?" Benny shook his head. "No, Mommy. I was being silly." Mommy hugged him tightly. "Being silly is fun, but you must listen when I keep you safe." Benny nodded softly.

"I'm sorry, Mommy. Next time, I will listen," Benny said, and they flew home together under the moon. Back at the castle, Benny asked, "Can I jump on my bed now?" Mommy smiled. "Yes, but carefully!" Benny jumped—BOING!—bouncing onto his pillow. "I listened to Mommy!" he cheered. From that night on, Benny stayed the silliest little vampire, but always remembered to listen.
