Hope, wearing a sunny yellow dress with small white polka dots and white sandals, sits on her bedroom floor, writing a note, while the round clear glass jar with a cork lid sits on a shelf above, filled with worry notes.
Hope kept a jar upon her shelf, where she tucked her worries, hid herself. Each little note held a secret fear, like monsters lurking, shadows near. “I’ll write it down,” she’d softly say, “and maybe then it floats away.” The glass jar filled, note by note, with worries she could barely tote. She loved the jar, so round and bright, but wondered how to make things light.
At her desk, Hope, in a sunny yellow dress with small white polka dots and white sandals, grips a pen with a shaky hand, dropping a worry note into the nearly full round glass jar with a cork lid, which rattles.
One morning Hope felt a worry grow, about show-and-tell, she didn’t know. Her hands shook as she grabbed a pen, writing her fear again and again. “What if they laugh?” she wrote so small, then dropped the note, jar nearly full. She shook the jar, it rattled loud, too many worries, she felt not proud.
Khaled, wearing a red short-sleeved t-shirt and blue shorts, points at the round glass jar with a cork lid on the shelf while Hope, in a sunny yellow dress with small white polka dots and white sandals, clutches it to her chest, blushing.
Knock, knock! Khaled came to play, with a grin as bright as day. He spotted the jar upon the shelf, “What’s that for?” he asked himself. Hope blushed and held it near her chest, “It’s where I put worries, to rest.” Khaled’s eyes went wide with glee, “Can I see what’s inside?” said he.
Sitting on the bedroom floor, Hope, in a sunny yellow dress with small white polka dots and white sandals, shows notes from the round glass jar with a cork lid, while Khaled, in a red t-shirt and blue shorts, squeezes her hand and holds up his own worry note.
Hope opened the jar with a trembling hand, showing notes Khaled didn’t understand. “These are my fears,” she said real low, “Things that scare me, high and low.” Khaled took her hand, so warm and kind, “Everyone worries, you’re not left behind.” He pulled a paper from his pocket too, “I’ve got worries, just like you.”
Khaled, in a red short-sleeved t-shirt and blue shorts, strains to lift the overstuffed round glass jar with a cork lid while Hope, in her sunny yellow dress with small white polka dots and white sandals, watches wide-eyed on the rug.
The jar was full, it wouldn’t shut, worries piled, cluttered and cut. Khaled lifted it, oh so tight, “This jar’s too heavy, that’s not right!” Hope nodded slow, her eyes grew wide, “I don’t know how to let it slide.” They sat together, side by side, wondering how worries could subside.
Khaled jumps up with a grin, his red t-shirt and blue shorts bright, as Hope, in a sunny yellow dress with small white polka dots and white sandals, claps and gathers worry notes from the round glass jar with a cork lid.
Khaled jumped up with a clever grin, “Let’s turn these worries into something fun!” “We’ll fold them into boats or kites, and send them off into the light!” Hope giggled, clapping her hands with glee, “That sounds like the perfect worry-free spree!” They gathered notes from the jar with care, ready for their big worry affair.
At the kitchen table, Hope, in a sunny yellow dress with small white polka dots and white sandals, carefully folds a paper boat while Khaled, in a red t-shirt and blue shorts, adds precise creases, the empty round glass jar with a cork lid nearby.
They folded the notes into tiny boats, each one a worry that used to float. Hope folded carefully, line by line, Khaled added folds, so precise and fine. “Now we need water,” Khaled said with a grin, “To let these boats sail, and worries swim in!” They grabbed their boats and ran for the door, excited for worries to be no more.
Running past a tall oak tree on a sunny street, Hope, in a sunny yellow dress with small white polka dots and white sandals and carrying the round glass jar with a cork lid, and Khaled, in a red t-shirt and blue shorts, head toward the sparkling blue pond with paper boats.
Off they ran down the sunny street, past the oak tree, so tall and sweet. They reached the pond with its sparkling blue, ready to set their worries anew. “One, two, three!” Hope counted with cheer, as they placed their boats, drawing near. The little boats bobbed on the gentle wave, carrying worries far, far away.
Paper boats drift across the pond; Hope, in a sunny yellow dress with small white polka dots and white sandals, the round glass jar with a cork lid beside her, watches peacefully while Khaled, in a red t-shirt and blue shorts, squeezes her hand.
The boats drifted slow across the pond, carrying secrets they'd been so fond. Hope watched quietly, her heart feeling light, as her worries sailed out of sight. Khaled squeezed her hand, with a happy sigh, “See? Worries can float, and say goodbye!” They watched till the last boat disappeared, and Hope felt lighter, no longer feared.
A gentle breeze ripples the pond; Hope, in a sunny yellow dress with small white polka dots and white sandals, the round glass jar with a cork lid at her feet, takes a deep breath as Khaled, in red t-shirt and blue shorts, spins joyfully.
A gentle breeze swept across the pond, carrying worries far beyond. Hope took a breath, so calm and slow, feeling the heaviness finally go. “Thank you,” she whispered to the sky, “for carrying worries that made me cry.” Khaled smiled and spun around, “Now let’s go play, worry-free and unbound!”
Beneath orange sunset light filtering through trees, Hope in her sunny yellow dress with small white polka dots and white sandals, the round glass jar with a cork lid sitting nearby, laughs and spins with Khaled in his red t-shirt and blue shorts.
They raced and laughed beneath the trees, dancing freely in the breeze. Khaled spun Hope round and round, their laughter was the happiest sound. “I feel so light!” Hope cried with delight, “My worries are gone, out of sight!” They played till the sun began to set, two happy hearts, no more regret.
In moonlit bedroom, Hope, now in soft pink pajamas, places a thank-you note into the round clear glass jar with a cork lid beside her pillow, her face serene.
That night Hope placed one note inside, a thank-you for her friend by her side. The jar once heavy, now felt so light, holding just joy, instead of fright. “Worries are smaller when shared with a friend,” Hope said, as her worries did end. She hugged the jar and turned off the light, drifting to sleep with a smile so bright.
