In a sunlit garden, Ian and Kyle squat beside a flowerpot, gently guiding a huge fuzzy brown spider into a glass jar lined with grass and twigs. Their faces glow with excitement and mischief.
Ian and Kyle dug in the garden, flipping rocks and leaves. 'Look!' Kyle shouted, pointing at a huge, fuzzy spider crawling near a flowerpot. Ian grinned. 'That's the biggest one yet!' They scooped it gently into a jar with grass and twigs. 'Let's call him Hairy,' said Kyle. Ian nodded. 'But Mom can't know. She doesn't like spiders.' They tiptoed inside, hiding the jar under Ian's bed, giggling with excitement.
In the dim bedroom, Ian and Kyle lean against the bed, hiding a shoe behind their backs. A fuzzy spider leg peeks out as they stifle giggles, a knock coming from the door.
That night, Hairy escaped his jar! He crawled across the floor as Kyle squealed. 'Shh!' Ian whispered, chasing him under the bed. They finally caught him in a shoe. 'That was close,' Ian sighed. Just then, Ciska knocked. 'Boys, what's all that noise?' 'Nothing, Mom!' they said together, hiding the shoe behind their backs, trying hard not to laugh.
Morning light fills the boys' room. Ciska, her pregnant belly visible under a light floral summer dress, points at a shoe with tiny spider legs. Ian and Kyle stand close, looking guilty yet hopeful.
The next morning, Ciska found tiny spider legs peeking from the shoe. 'A spider? In the house?' she gasped. Kyle hid behind Ian. 'We just wanted a pet,' Ian explained. Ciska crossed her arms. 'Spiders belong outside, not under beds!' She wasn't angry, just firm. 'Let's find him a better home,' she said, smiling softly.
Back in the garden, Kyle carefully sets a fuzzy brown spider beside the flowerpot. Ian smiles nearby, while Ciska ruffles their hair, her summer dress swaying in the breeze.
Together, they carried Hairy back to the garden. Kyle placed him gently near the flowerpot. 'Bye, Hairy!' he waved. Ian smiled. 'He's happier outside.' Ciska ruffled their hair. 'Good choice, boys.' From then on, they watched Hairy from afar, still best garden friends, just without sneaking him indoors again.
