Rain tapped on the window. Lola pressed her nose to the glass with Boots curled beside her. "I wanted to play outside today," Lola sighed. Boots gave a tiny meow, just as sad. They watched the drops race down the window together. "Maybe tomorrow," Lola whispered, hugging her fluffy friend close. The clouds looked gray and grumpy, just like Lola's heart felt right then.

Suddenly, the rain stopped! Sunshine burst through the clouds. "Look, Boots!" Lola shouted, pointing out the window. A giant rainbow stretched across the sky! "Let's go catch it!" Lola grabbed her yellow raincoat and bright gumboots. Boots puffed up with excitement, tail swishing fast. They dashed to the door together, hearts pounding with wonder. The rainbow sparkled, waiting just for them to chase it.

They raced past strawberries, red and sweet. Orange marigolds nodded as they ran by. Yellow sunflowers stood tall and bright. Across the green grass they zoomed, past the bird bath where a little blue wren splashed. Purple lavender swayed in the breeze. "Almost there, Boots!" Lola panted, reaching the back fence. But when she looked up... the rainbow had vanished. "Oh no," Lola said softly, disappointed.

Sad, they trudged back to the porch. Mum smiled, holding warm cocoa and a treat for Boots. "Did you catch your rainbow?" she asked gently. Lola shook her head, then turned to look at the garden. Red strawberries, orange flowers, yellow sunflowers, green grass, blue wren, purple lavender! "Mum, the rainbow was here the whole time!" Lola laughed, snuggling close with Boots purring happily beside her.
