In her sunlit bedroom, Zara closes her eyes, making her niyyah, with a small suitcase beside her. Mama kneels in a muted-gold hijab, and Baba places a gentle hand on her shoulder.
Zara skipped around her room, packing her little suitcase for a very special trip. “Where are we going, Mama?” she asked. “To Makkah, to visit Allah’s House,” Mama said with a gentle smile. Baba knelt beside her. “Before we go, we make a quiet promise called niyyah, telling Allah our hearts are ready.” Zara closed her eyes and whispered her promise softly, feeling excited and a little nervous for her first Umrah journey.
At the airport, Zara twirls in a soft white dress and a matching white headscarf, giggling. Baba kneels in simple white Ihram clothing, smiling warmly. Mama watches lovingly, wearing a flowing muted-gold hijab and a soft sage-green abaya.
At the airport, Baba wore special white clothing called Ihram. “This shows we are all equal in front of Allah,” he explained. Zara giggled, trying her own soft white dress for the journey. Mama whispered, “While wearing Ihram, we stay gentle, kind, and avoid arguing or harming anything, even tiny ants!” Zara nodded, feeling proud and ready. As the plane soared above fluffy clouds, she pressed her nose to the window, whispering, “Labbaik Allahumma labbaik,” just like Baba taught her.
Near the Kaaba, Zara, wearing a soft white dress and a matching white headscarf, holds hands with Mama, in a flowing muted-gold hijab and a soft sage-green abaya, and Baba, in simple white Ihram clothing. In the background, white-clad pilgrims move gently in a circling river.
When they reached the Haram, Zara gasped. There stood the Kaaba, tall and black, draped in gold-embroidered cloth. “That is Allah’s House,” Baba whispered, holding her hand tightly. Together, they walked around it seven times, a special circling called Tawaf. Zara watched hundreds of people moving gently like a river, all loving Allah together. “I feel so small, yet so happy,” she told Mama, who squeezed her hand and smiled, tears of joy shining in her eyes.
After Sa’i, Baba, wearing simple white Ihram clothing, pours cool Zamzam water into a small cup for Zara, who wears a soft white dress and a matching white headscarf. Mama smiles beside them in a flowing muted-gold hijab and a soft sage-green abaya.
After Tawaf, they walked briskly between two hills, Safa and Marwah, remembering Hajar’s brave search for water long ago. This was called Sa’i. Afterward, Baba gave Zara cool Zamzam water to drink. “This blessed water never runs dry,” he said. Zara giggled as cool droplets tickled her chin. That night, snuggled between Mama and Baba, she whispered a happy prayer, thanking Allah for her wonderful first Umrah, and dreaming of sharing her story with friends back home.
