Daisy Finch, the best detective in Room 12, frowned at her empty backpack. "My homework is gone!" she gasped. She grabbed her magnifying glass and notebook. "Time to investigate," she whispered. Around the room, other students checked their bags too. "Mine's missing too!" said a classmate. Daisy's eyes sparkled. A real mystery! She tiptoed to the window, spotted tiny paper scraps on the floor, and smiled. "Clue number one," she said, scribbling fast.

Daisy followed the paper trail across the classroom floor. "This way!" she said, crawling past desks. The trail wiggled through the reading corner and stopped near Nibbles' hamster cage. She peeked inside. Little bits of worksheet paper poked through the cedar chips. "Interesting," Daisy muttered, tapping her chin. She asked a classmate, "Have you seen Nibbles acting strange?" "He's been extra busy building something," the classmate said. Daisy grinned. "I think I know who our thief is!"

Daisy waited quietly by the cage after lunch. Soon, Nibbles scurried out, grabbed a torn worksheet, and scampered back inside. "Caught you!" Daisy whispered, peeking through the bars. Nibbles had built a cozy nest stuffed with homework pages! "No wonder everyone's work disappeared," she laughed. She gently lifted the fluffy nest. Papers crinkled everywhere. "Don't worry, Nibbles," she said kindly. "You just wanted a comfy home." She carefully began separating the shredded homework from the nest.

Daisy proudly presented the recovered homework to her teacher. "Nibbles built his nest out of our papers!" she explained. Everyone laughed with relief. "Case closed!" Daisy announced, tapping her notebook. Her teacher smiled. "Great detective work, Daisy." To keep Nibbles happy, they gave him soft tissue paper for future nests. From then on, homework stayed safe in backpacks, and Nibbles had the coziest cage in school. Daisy closed her notebook, satisfied. Another mystery solved by the room's smallest detective.
