Blaze bounced through the yard, tail wagging fast. "Kisses for everyone!" he barked happily. He licked Stormy's nose. He licked Jethro's long ears. "Blaze, wait!" said Stormy, stepping back. Jethro twitched his nose and hopped away quickly. Blaze tilted his head, confused. "Don't you love kisses?" he asked. Stormy sighed. "Sometimes I just want space, Blaze." Blaze's floppy ears drooped. He didn't understand. Not everyone loved slobbery surprises like he did.

The next day, Blaze spotted Jethro nibbling clover. "Kiss time!" Blaze shouted, racing over. Jethro jumped high, landing behind a bush. "Please ask first!" Jethro said, ears flat. Blaze stopped running. "Oh! I didn't know I should ask." Stormy trotted over and nuzzled Blaze gently. "Asking shows you care about feelings, not just showing them," she explained. Blaze sat quietly, thinking hard about kindness, kisses, and what being a good friend truly meant.

Blaze took a deep breath and walked to Stormy. "May I give you one kiss?" he asked softly. Stormy smiled wide. "Yes, Blaze! That would be nice." He licked her cheek gently, tail wagging slow and happy. Then he found Jethro. "Can I give you a little kiss?" Jethro thought, then nodded. "Just one, okay?" Blaze grinned and gave the tiniest, gentlest kiss ever. Everyone felt happy and respected.

From then on, Blaze always asked before kissing anyone. Sometimes friends said yes, sometimes they said not today, and that was okay too. Stormy and Jethro loved playing with Blaze even more now. "You're the best kisser who always asks!" Jethro laughed, hopping in circles. Blaze wagged his tail proudly. He learned that caring meant listening, not just loving. Together, the three friends ran off to play, happier than ever before.
