In her sunlit bedroom, Lulwah stretched under her covers, yawning wide in her pink star-print pajamas as morning light streamed through the curtains.
Lulwah opened her eyes and stretched in her cozy bed. Sunlight peeked through the curtains. "Good morning, world!" she said with a yawn. She hopped out of bed and skipped to the bathroom. She brushed her teeth and splashed cool water on her face. "Today will be a good day," she whispered, smiling at herself in the mirror.
In her bedroom, Lulwah twirled, her floral dress with tiny flowers flaring out, a happy smile on her face after getting dressed.
In the kitchen, Lulwah ate warm pancakes with honey. "Yummy!" she said, licking her lips. After breakfast, she put on her favorite dress with little flowers on it. She twirled around happily. Before leaving, she washed her hands carefully at the sink. "Clean hands, happy day," she sang softly, feeling ready for whatever came next.
Pressed against the car window, Lulwah watched houses zoom past, her floral dress bright against the seatbelt, excitement in her eyes.
Lulwah climbed into the car and buckled her seatbelt in the passenger seat. "Are we there yet?" she asked, bouncing a little. Her mother laughed and said, "Almost, sweetie." Lulwah watched the houses zoom by outside her window. She was excited to see her best friend, Noor, who always made her giggle.
On a colorful rug at Noor’s house, Lulwah in her floral dress and Noor in a cheerful yellow tunic laughed together, sharing a meal of rice and chicken.
At Noor's house, the girls sat together and ate warm rice and chicken. "This is so good!" Lulwah said happily. They laughed and shared stories about school. Noor's mother smiled and brought more food to the table. Lulwah felt grateful to have such a kind friend to share meals and laughter with.
In the hospital room, Lulwah in a soft blue blouse held a bouquet of flowers, offering a gentle smile to Noor, who lay in a pale green hospital gown.
A few days later, Noor got sick and had to stay in the hospital. Lulwah visited her, holding a small bouquet of flowers. "I hope you feel better soon," Lulwah said softly. Seeing her friend in a hospital bed made her feel sad inside. She held Noor's hand gently and stayed with her for a while.
At her school desk, Lulwah in a navy pinafore dress stared out the window, her chin on her hand, daydreaming about Noor while a lesson went on.
The next day, Lulwah sat quietly at her desk in school. Her teacher explained a math lesson, but Lulwah kept thinking about Noor. "I hope she gets well soon," she whispered to herself. After class, she decided to make Noor a special get-well card with colorful drawings and hearts all over it.
Amidst the bright lights of the mall, Lulwah raised her shopping bags triumphantly, beaming in a yellow polka dot top as she admired a teddy bear for Noor.
That weekend, Lulwah went shopping at the mall with her mother. They bought a soft teddy bear for Noor and some new shoes for Lulwah. "I love this one!" Lulwah said, raising her hands in joy. She felt so happy holding her shopping bags, excited to give Noor the special gift soon.
Standing before her warm golden house, Lulwah in her yellow polka dot top hugged a box of new shoes, her face glowing with pride.
Back home, Lulwah stood outside admiring her beautiful house. The walls were painted a warm golden color, and flowers grew by the door. "I love living here," she said proudly. She ran up the steps and went inside to show her mother the new shoes from the mall, feeling very content.
Before the mosque, Lulwah stood with her family, her black abaya and hijab modest and serene, a small smile on her face beneath the minarets.
On Friday, Lulwah wore her flowing abaya and stood in front of the mosque with her family. The tall minarets reached up to the sky. Inside, she sat quietly and listened to gentle prayers. "This place feels so peaceful," she whispered to her mother, feeling calm and thankful in her heart.
On the airplane, Lulwah pressed her face to the window in a cozy grey sweatshirt, squeezing her mother’s hand as clouds drifted by.
Soon after, Lulwah's family took a trip and boarded an airplane together. She pressed her face against the window, watching clouds float by. "We're so high up!" she said excitedly. The airplane hummed softly as it flew through the sky. Lulwah squeezed her mother's hand, feeling both nervous and thrilled at once.
From the airplane window, Lulwah spotted the crescent moon; she raised her hands in joy, her grey sweatshirt sleeves sliding back.
That evening, Lulwah looked out the airplane window and saw a thin crescent moon glowing in the dark sky. "Look, Mama! The moon!" she said, raising her hands up in joy. Her mother smiled and explained it meant a special celebration was near. Lulwah felt pure happiness fill her tiny heart.
In her bed, Lulwah sobbed into her pillow in her familiar pink star-print pajamas, until her mother’s embrace brought a teary smile, and she drifted to sleep.
Later that night, Lulwah felt sad remembering Noor still resting in the hospital bed. Then her little brother accidentally broke her new toy, and she felt angry too. She cried softly in her bed. But her mother hugged her gently and whispered kind words. Soon, Lulwah smiled and fell asleep happily, dreaming of brighter days ahead.
