One quiet night, Nora heard a soft tapping sound outside her window. Tap, tap, tap! She pulled her blanket tight and peeked through the curtains. The moon glowed over the garden, but nothing moved. 'Who's there?' she whispered, grabbing her flashlight. Bravely, she tiptoed downstairs and opened the back door. The night air smelled like fresh grass. Something sparkled near the old oak tree, blinking like a tiny star. Nora's heart raced with curiosity. She stepped outside to find out what it was.

The sparkly light zipped closer, and Nora gasped. It was a tiny sprite with glowing wings shaped like maple leaves! 'Hello,' the sprite said, spinning in the air. 'I'm Flicker. I heard crying near the fence.' Nora blinked. 'Crying? I only heard tapping.' Flicker's light flickered brighter. 'Follow me, friend!' Together they walked past the rose bushes, their footsteps quiet on the dewy grass. Nora felt nervous but excited, ready to solve the mystery of the strange night sounds.

Behind the fence, a small kitten was stuck between two wooden boards, meowing softly. 'There it is!' Flicker said, lighting up the spot. Nora knelt down gently. 'Don't worry, little one, I'll help you.' She carefully wiggled the boards apart and lifted the kitten free. It nuzzled her hand, purring happily. 'You found her!' Flicker cheered, doing a happy loop in the air. Nora smiled, cradling the warm, fuzzy kitten close. The mystery of the midnight noise was finally solved.

Nora carried the kitten inside and gave her warm milk in a little bowl. 'Thank you for your help, Flicker,' she said, waving at the glowing sprite by the window. Flicker twinkled happily. 'Anytime, friend! Sweet dreams.' The sprite zoomed off into the starry sky, leaving a trail of golden sparkles. Nora yawned and climbed into bed, the kitten curling up beside her. She smiled, thinking about her brave night adventure. Together, they drifted off to sleep, safe and happy.
